Where to get married in the Caribbean
Me and Miss Jeramy are planing on getting married if possible in the new year. Now what we are not sure about is the destination, we like the idea of a beach wedding, Caribbean backdrop and the hot weather. One of the places we like the sound of is Cuba and its quite good value for money(looking to spend £5k in total all inc) and there seems plenty to see and do.
Now the missus has already been to Mexico and doesn't fancy it again for the wedding, so we have crossed that off the list. We've heard poor things about Jamaica and mixed reviews about the Dominican republic.
So can anyone give any feedback on any of the above whether you've had or been to a wedding in the Caribbean or just holidayed there
Cheers

Got married in St Lucia nearly thirteen years ago. 100 degrees and a dark blue suit :-)
St Lucia (then) was a very popular place, the lady who married us was in the Guiness Book of Records as having married the most couples.
Ceremony is quick, what I remember most is walking along the beach afterwards as the cameraman takes loads of pics.
The resort sorted it all for us.
That was our first trip to the caribbean, since then have also been to Antigua (better) and Barbados (better still, IMO).
Barbados for "stuff" to do, Antigua is just beautiful.

The best island is without doubt Barbados. The old colonial feel mixed with great restaurants is hard to beat.
Having said that my personal favourite is Greneda. A little more understated and unknown, but beautiful and chilled.
Lasttime I was there we ended up having cocktails with Simon Cowell in the Aquarium Bar before we flew home.
Bizarre to say the least.
All in all though if I was getting married in the Carribean it would probably be Barbados.

Gave up three years ago and would go back in an instant. Lovely place.

Iv been to St lucia Bvi Barbados and St Barts , all sailing - couldnt really comment on what would make the best honeymoon/wedding venue , but i imagine its what you make it
Id like to see the windward islands one day too, i heard theyre nicer still

We got married in Sandals St.Lucia a few years ago very nice it was too, some advise about a beach wedding however which we were given, be aware that you and any guests may squint a lot in photos because of the sun and it can look like a Japanese reunion party!
Also if you have a video done it can be inaudible with the sea crashing in the background,a lot of beaches in the carribean are public and you have all the locals wandering through the ceremony, would suggest a Gazebo type structure with the ocean as a backdrop.
