problem please advice upvc door stuck closed
we have french doors on the back of our house and they are unlocked but are locked closed. If we turn the handle it goes all the way round and will not bite and unlock the door.
The doors are under 2 years old and should be covered by the house builder but the problem we have is I can't get through to them until monday. I have had 2 double glaze companys look at the doors and they both could not open the doors with out damaging them.
My question is has this happen to anybody and you know of a way for me to try? If not I will contact the builder next week.
Thanks

I hope theyre just stuck , this happen with my grandparents conservatory doors becuase some wise guy took out the rsj ( or similar ) above them
anyway the construction left the door frame to support the 2 foot of building material above it

Anyway this clearly aint your particlar problem ( makes note to read post first )
- this is happening with our windows here right now , this might help
Hi
unscrew the handle - 2 screws - and hopefully the handle will just pull off. You having mentioned living near the sea could mean it's rusted in.
Lets say the handle pulls off ok. Bearing in mind which way the handle turned to open, put a screwdriver in and try to turn the gearbox with it.
Try a few times then failing this get a hammer and put it into the lock where the handle spindle goes and try to knock the whole lock sideways.
Important thing here is to hit it the right way. Without being there it's hard to know but looking at one of your windows which does open will show you which way the spud or mushroom needs to go to come out of the keeper in the frame.
We do this type of repair for £45 and would leave the window perfect with a new lock fitted. After that any further windows would be charged at £25 each.
So it might be worth trying to get a window fixer bloke in.
Good luck.

I'd love to know the answer to this. We have a kitchen window that's stuck. I've removed the handle and turned the gear with a screwdriver and it didn't make any difference. The mushrooms (2No.) above the lock move up, and the ones below the lock (2No.) move down. There's also a pin that shoots into the upper and lower frame which are part of the same mechanism.
I was thinking I'd have to chisel the sash out of the frame and then get a new sash made - the windows are hardwood.
