Couple who tortured two small boys get just two years!

I just do not understand this two years for torturing these kids you get longer for tax evasion which i suppose says a lot about how the courts value children these days. Punishment rarely seems to reflect the severity of the crimes and this seems most apt when it involves minors. What is wrong with the law makers and enforcers in the country - are they all paedophiles and child abusers???
When did this abhorrent sort of behaviour become almost acceptable???
Disgusting - both should be sterilised if not put down!

The couple, both from Margate, left the children with fractured bones, bruises and bites to the genitals when they were looking after them in July 2009.

It is getting pretty worrying the way we are seeing so much violence of one kind or another these days, especially towards those who cannot defend themselves. These two should have been very heavily punished indeed after what they did to those two poor lads. That treatment will affect them for life I imagine.
The penalties handed out nowadays are unbelievably lenient. It is almost as though the judiciary are frightened of revenge attacks, or even worse that they just don't care anyway!
I wonder if we will ever get back to the times when such actions just would not happen and when people had a totally different outlook on life in general. We seem to see more selfishness and greed now and instant reversion to gratuitous violence. People seem to think far more now about themselves only with little or no consideration for others. Something has gone very badly wrong somewhere.

What worries me about this story is "when they were looking after them in July 2009."
No where does it say these are their kids. It makes me wonder if there is more to this.

Either way its a disgrace. The child protection service should be one of the most cash rich services in the UK not one of the poorest. Adults beating hell out of each other is one thing and should know better, a defenceless child needs far more support than is provided.

This woman only got a suspended sentence. As already said the crimes being committed aren't being punished severely enough most of the time.

Couple took cash for 'loaning adopted girls to paedophiles'
Thats what I was thinking - seems to imply the kids were foster kids or something?

This couple should be hanged publicly!

Reading between the lines of this story, my understanding is that the injuries weren't (or at least not for the most part) actually caused by these two scumbags, and that they were charged for neglect in the strictest sense of the word - any harm they caused was as a result of failing to get the kids medical treatment when it was needed, not from battering them.
Sentences still far too short even if that's all it was, but as others have said, very likely more to this than it appears.
