Why do the police have to use luxury cars like BMW's after all that our tax payers money surely smoothing like a Mondeo estate would be sufficient.

Because a chipped 535D can out run Lambo's. Everybody knows that.

"The three in the Bentley, thought to be between 15 and 17 years old, were taken to hospital suffering from 'minor' injuries."

Shame. Judging by the wreck, I was hoping they'd died.

Discounted cars, often supplied by the manufacturer and or dealership/group - very cheap prices or 'loaned' to the forces i think you will find in some cases.

a chipped 535 will in fact outrun a space shuttle!

They are indeed the 'Chuck Norris' of cars

Power without control, does that describe our plod today? maybe if we took the high powered cars away it might keep running costs down?

It's a testament to the chassis-strength of the Bentley though. It took out half a tree, flipped on its roof, and the 3 scumbags inside still only had minor injuries.

In Notts, we lease Focus TDCi estates. My Fiesta Zetec-S actually has more power!

What amazes me is why people who cause damage to police cars ,other vehicles & property when evading the law don't appear to have the costs for repair & replacement added to their charges or am I wrong?

Also pi**es me off having to pay he police force to babysit idiots who get drunk & can't behave themselves on weekends. The police are not there to take care of 'self inflicted' stupidity.I think there should be a flat rate fine of say £300 to offset the cost.

I've always added a charge of criminal damage for damage to anything else - vehicles or other property.

The reason given, which is perfectly acceptable in my view, is that they have to to a long shift in the car so need a bit of comfort to be able to cope day after day.
