Default Bad time to run out of talent...

When you're a policeman driving a drunk's Evo back to the station after you've arrested him!
Cops crash £30k seized sportscar | The Sun |News

The pictures are good:

But the quotes are better:

Following the arrest of the driver, officers drove the vehicle from the scene. The car then collided with two front gardens
and best of all:

"I would like to apologies to residents if this incident has caused any problems or inconvenience."
I notice they aint apologising to the driver!

Bet the front gardens had no tax, no MOT, no insurance..... deserved it anyway. Hope they got impounded.

Can't wait to see this on Police Camera Action

It's worse. Apparently they were there to guard the vehicle and wait for it to be picked up. They decided to go for a 'spin' whilst they were waiting.

If they do not get FIRED over this then my last vestige of confidence I have in our Police is gone, done, dusted.

As driving it is not Force policy they would not be insured. The arrested guy will need to sue the Police to get his car reinstated.

Ditchfinders + 'watch this' + 100 mph = fail.

What will probably happen is they'll blame the mismatched tyres for destabilising the car.

They will still have to pay out for the car, but they wont lose their job as the crash wasn't their fault.

I think it's down to each individual force to decide their policy. In Notts we are allowed to drive any car as long as it is within our grading.

How far over the 30mph speed limit would they need to have been traveling to wreck the car that badly? If they don't lose their jobs and licenses, then 20 years compulsory desk-duty without promotion would just about cover it. At least that way the tax-payer gets some value back out of them.

Believe me if this was Notts the accident investigators will be all over that. Until the investigation is complete, they're most likely to be desk-bound or walking the beat, police driving permit will have been withdrawn.

A base-model Evo VIII on a '54 plate like this one would actually be closer to 275bhp from factory, but would only have been worth £28K new. You'd want 10K in your pocket to go shopping for a good one now, according to Parkers.

As they were in contravention of force policy then it was still their fault as irrespective of the car having mixed tyres they should never have been in the car to start with.

I am sure there will be some reason why they will not lose their jobs.

Just like the guy who was doing 100mph in a 30 zone on his way to pick up a takeaway.

Maximum for normal TWOCing is six months imprisonment. Because they wrote off the car it might be considered to be Aggravated Vehicle Taking, which I think is a Crown Court offence.

Does that mean they all get bad 1980 hairdo's and we get to watch it unfold on ITV, just after the test card finishes at lunchtime?

I was commenting on news reports that they were waiting for a transporter as they were now allowed to drive it.

Based on what you see - do you think they will get fired - allowing for the fact they should not have been driving and that is a 30mph road?
