Question Hand gels

Do you use 'em?

Like after you shake hands with someone?

Of course, when I'm off out for the day I have one of those big cartons... Similar to that of an industrial sized weed killer spray.

Whenever myself or the kids touch something a bit dirty or nasty, I whip it out and give them a quick spray.

No chance I would be letting my children build up an immune system!

I don't want to be subject to all those germs, I was formula fed... I don't have that magic Aptamil bubble around me.

I'm using an alcohol based one right now.

It's funny how they seem to have appeared these last few years. They are common in public places now.

Apparently biting your nails does the trick, more dirty than licking public toilet bowls so they say.

I find that wiping my hand on my **** seems to do the business. Being a sensitive soul I would not do that in the sight of the other person though!

there about as much use as a chocolate teapot.

unless the whole worlds gets cleaned, you strip butt naked and rub yourself all over, then do the smae with your clothes, ther e atotal waste of time.

also they arn't 100% effective anyway, bit of a well worked cash cow by the suppliers tbh

I use em' at work, get handed paperwork/documents etc all the time from fat, stinking, sweaty lorry drivers who sit in their cabs knocking one out as opposed to watching the road so you will have to forgive my concerns/precautions with hand cleanliness!!

It makes me feel better, and as for them not being effective..........I am sure you would want the ol' surgeon to scrub up and clean their hands thoroughly before going anywhere near you with a scalpel wouldn't you

I would

How on earth did the human race make it through the stone age without hand gel?! Pure chance I guess

TX.

PS

Allegedly, fear of dirt is why the Japanese don't shake hands ...

when was the last time you saw a surgeon using hand gels to wash ther hands before an op? think you'll find they use lots of hot soapy water.

cdefacile (sp) isn't killed by the hand gels where as they realy object to hot soapy water lol

Worse than that are the dirty b*stards that exit public WCs without washing their hands

I bought some from work a while back, only because I can't resist a bargain, they were selling it off for 5p a bottle.

I don't really like it though, seems to leave my hands a little sticky, so I ended up washing them anyway.

If I washed my hands/used this gel at work everytime I 'needed to', I'd spend more time cleaning than working. I think some people have gone a bit mental tbh.

I never said that surgeons use 'hand gel' before operations! Rather the importance of cleaning hands thoroughly before an operation to remove the nasties. What others are saying is that is no need to take precautions ensuring your hands are clean as we existed for thousands of years without hand gel/sanitiser.

If the gel is ineffective then why do hospitals insist on installing them all over the wards

I'm bored of this already

It amuses me that the people who are horrified that somebody could exit the bogs without washing their hands choose to ignore the fact that the tap handle, the door handle on the way out and basically everything you touch has just been touched by someone who didn't wash their hands.

Also, and without wanting to turn this into another BNP thread, the Muslim guys have just had their feet in that sink before you washed your hands in it. I suppose they are very clean feet having to wash them 5 times a day though .... ?
