Employee Rights !!!!
HI All
Ok if my employer wants to change my contract, basically reduce my salary, where do I stand legally ??
Can I refuse ?? If I refuse could they then make me redundant ?? Can I refuse and then ask for redundancy ??
I would be happy with redundancy to be honest. I have a few other things lined up

I'm pretty sure they would have to give at least 90 days consultation before they can implement the change. Not sure what happens if you refuse.
Best place to try is ACAS.

Good luck

They offered me redundancy ( I'm sure they had to legally ) - and i took it
Really P****d them off , as it was only a £1000 yearly reduction .
I walked away with £20k+
Currently looking after my new born and having a short career break - whilst contemplating a career change

An existing contract can only be changed by agreement - if you don't agree to it they may be forced to let you or others go. Unsure as to whether that's redundancy or not as the role is still required (not redundant), they just want to pay less money to carry it out

Edit - interesting articles

PS
Read articles myself now basically you can refuse the pay cut albeit the consequences could be that you or others lose their jobs. They can't single you out though for refusing.
