Scenery was even more spectacular than the fish!!

To be honest the fishing was a little disappointing. It has been an odd season with an extended heatwave, ultra low water and lots of colour in the water as the glaciers were melting.

We saw a wolf (apparently only rarely spotted), a moose, a bear, an otter and cubs, lots of bald eagles, an osprey, a red tailed hawk and lots of different kinds of salmon as well as steelhead.

We ate King, Sockeye, and Coho salmon.

You are not allowed to kill wild steelhead in British Columbia.

What is it about blokes overly happy with themselves when they've caught a fish, weird.

Lucky man Trout. I'm currently looking into Montana as well as my invite out to Kansas chasing deer. Its doable as long as I can get a tag, and as will all things worth while, the good areas take years to get.

Still the thought of 2 weeks in the Rockies with not alot more than my bow and a fishing rod really appeals.

Simon - who is organising it for you? Roxtons are very good at fishing/hunting holidays and they do Montana.

Trout, at the mo, I'm just looking into it. I come to think that Montana will have to be done through an outfitter. Kansas I'm doing through contacts I've made on an archery forum.

I'll look into those guys, but I really have to get my skills in order (and finances). Whilst I have kit here that I know I can do it with (compound), I want to do it with a recurve, and that takes a skill set I don't yet have.

Steelhead do not have a wristed tail like an Atlantic salmon and so are quite hard to hold for a photo - the glove just makes it a bit easier!

Four married guys go fishing.

After an hour, the following conversation took place:

First guy: You have no idea what I had to do to be able to come out fishing this weekend. I had to promise my wife that I would paint every room in the house next weekend..'

Second guy: That is nothing, I had to promise my wife that I would build her a new deck for the pool.'

Third guy: Man , you both have it easy! I had to promise my wife that I would remodel the kitchen for her.'

They continue to fish. When they realized that the fourth guy has not said a word, they asked him,“You haven't said anything about what you had to do to be able to come fishing this weekend. What's the deal?”

Fourth guy: I just set my alarm for 5:30 am.
When it went off, I shut off my alarm,
Gave the wife a slap on her butt and said:

'Fishing or Sex?'

And she said:…………….. 'Wear sun-block.'
