Question What discount on a 'new build' house ?

I know that this is one of those ' how long is a piece of string questions ' but here goes.

My daughter/partner have had a firm offer on their present house, so assuming it all goes through OK they want to move into a 4 bed house on a new build site. This is a new dormitory village but already has a primary school/shop/health center etc built and up and running. The house is 90% completed, just needs the finish as requested by the buyer. The house is priced at 192k so what REALISTIC discount could my daughter expect to negotiate on this ? The village site still has many more houses to build yet and will be developing for 2/3 yrs. Houses are released in little batches. She is willing to lower the specs in order to get the house ie ordinary worktops in the kitchen rather that the specified granite one etc....

And please.....sensible answers to a serious question.

Thanks

JBL

Go for deposit paid (5% to 10 %)and stamp duty paid (by them of course)

I'd also push for flooring and appliances -you never know.
