Is it really very good? Does the film do the book justice or should I read the book? If I watch the film is it better with subtitle option or dubbed?

NO SPOILERS PLEASE!

Read the book as there are topics in it that will never be shown on screen.

I fancied seeing this, didn't even know there was a book.

(just saw it in Asda and thought it sounded good)

I've read the book and seen the film. The book is a great read, and the film stays pretty close to it. Obviously you lose a few sub-plots, but overall I enjoyed it.

I chose to watch the dubbed film then watched a bit with subtitles. If I was watching it again I would watch the subtitle version - it has more atmosphere.

I would suggest reading all three books first, then watch the films. As mentioned by others, some of the threads in the books are missing from the films, partly due to content and partly due to time.

The films are pretty good, more so because hollywood didn't get it's hands on them, but alas the sniff of money has filtered to hollywood and I believe they have acquired the rights to the films and will be remaking and probably ruining them. Though I'd guess Stellan Skarsgard will be given the role of Blomquist

there's a bit in it that will make the blokes wince (or maybe smile if that's your thing)

i'll say no more but it's a bit brutal.

good film, wasn't quite the epic 'film of the year' it was billed up to be, but deffo one of the best films i've seen recently

Brutal but severly deserved!

Cannot see DC as Kalle, hav just read stellan is in talks about being Martin vanger! Now that would be interesting, and in that case I would have Peter Stromare as kalle
who for lisbeth though? Natalie portman perhaps?

Almost at the end of the Girl Who Played With Fire - the second book. The first was excellent as is the second. The plot and the threads through the books are enthralling.

I plan on reading the third book and then watching the film.

Good film but tries to cram too much into itself. Should have been a two parter.

Also it's a big gratuetous on the violance against women front.
