Angry

She seems upset and embarrassed at being linked with those diamonds, i do doubt she cares how the diamonds got to her and how many died or where maimed in the process - dirty, disgusting, devoid of morals and a ****-pig!

"Blood diamonds"? "Illegal"? Listening to the BBCs appallingly poor coverage today has made me cringe. "Blood diamonds" - what a stupidly sensationalist name for conflict diamonds, which are morally abhorrent, but not "illegal".

From the same muppets who stated that BP were pouring 'cement' into their capped oil well. You could give chimps a press release and half an hour watching CNN and a read of The Sun and theyd come up with better copy. *******.

Hmmm, i thought the trade in conflict diamonds was banned in some countries. http://www.diamondfacts.org/conflict/index.html

Outraged in the late 1990's that proceeds from diamond sales financed arms purchases and prolonged insurrections, in Sierra Leone and Angola, which were some of the most brutal of the past decade, the international community acted. By 2003 the international community through the participants in the Kimberley Process, bringing together industry, governments and civil society, mobilized governments to ban trade in rough diamonds funding African conflicts. Called the "Kimberley Process Certification Scheme" the ban ended those African conflicts financed by "blood" diamonds. Based on the respect for human dignity, the negotiators found the following common interests to win support for an international ban on trade in rough diamonds used to finance war and rebellion:

* First, in memory of those who died in Sierra Leone, in Angola, in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and other African countries in conflicts fueled by rough “Conflict’ Diamonds;”
* Second, to end the killing in on-going conflicts in Africa;
* Third, to save the children of Africa whose lives would be threatened by future conflicts fueled by conflict diamonds;
* Fourth, to ensure those countries which depend on diamonds for their development and economic well-being will benefit from their patrimony; and
* Fifth, to assure consumers the diamonds they wish to enjoy are without the taint of conflict.

Through the worldwide implementation of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme we have begun to fulfill the international community's obligation to those who have suffered in Africa's wars by banning the trade in conflict diamonds. We have eliminated conflict diamond financing in Sierra Leone and are committed to bring the proceeds from the diamond trade to benefit the people of Sierra Leone, Angola and Liberia as well as all other diamond producing countries such as Botswana to help themselves support economic development of their countries."
- Ambassador J.D. Bindenagel, Former U.S. Special Negotiator for Conflict Diamonds

International Response to Conflict Diamonds Blood Diamonds© European Communities, 2009.

Whilst not all of the world is signed up a lot of the 'civilised' parts are including the USA and UK so i guess Campbell was breaking the law although the above act was not created until 2003.

I think the real point is that she was involved with the conflict/blood diamond trade and pretty much anybody with a brain and some education understands that the process involved in mining and getting these stones involves the loss of live, limbs and liberty for those unlucky enough to be involved, not in charge!

typical of the BBC to get all excitable and wade in without much though or worrying about the facts - when it suits them to do so of course

Can't stand the woman. Not very pretty IMHO. Has her head up her @rse. Thinks she's some sort of goddess and she can do what she wants because she's a Supermodel.

Hell, she's so up her own backside, she kept the court waiting for her. if i'd have been the judge, I'd have found her Contempt of court and locker her up for a month.

Is it just me, or does everyone seem to have missed the point that NC immediately gave the diamonds to a friend who runs a legitimate charity, and that he immediately handed them in to the authorities?

I've got no real opinion on the girl one way or another, but let's at least get our facts straight here.

He didn't.He's just recently handed them to the SA Police

In a statement he said that he had "just kept" the three small uncut diamonds until recently, apparently not knowing what to do with them.
