Yeah, I know, I'll be avoiding laughter. May even have to watch Eastenders tonight - that's no laughing matter.

Did you have open surgery or laparoscopic? If it is the former, it will hurt like f*ck for 2-3 weeks. If it's the latter, then you'll feel fine in a few days...

Open! The painkillers seem to be doing the trick so far. Very little pain, just very stiff, have to shuffle everywhere - look like a 90 old man trying to get to the loo.

Hope it soon clears up. I had a major abdominal operation too and it took a while to feel normal again. As was said the no driving for a month bit is frustrating.

I had a hernia op when I was in my teens, I had a 1-2 inch scar so not sure what kind of op that is. Anyway, for the 1st day I was laying around watching TV. By the 2nd day I was hobbling about, no real pain. I was back in school about 7 days after the op.

I'm looking at about 2 weeks off then light duties for another couple of weeks before I'm fully back to work. That's the plan but we'll see.

I'm now up and about doing the shuffle lol. I'm quiet suprised at how little pain I'm in - thanks to lots of pain killers though!

Just take it easy, the heing part is a VERY important part of the op.
The fact you ate allowed to do naff all for ages is a bonus!

My eldest brother had his operated on in the days before key hole surgery. He didn't rest properly and the scar didn't heal as well ad it should have done.
Basically 2 weeks later a corner started weeping abd the scar burst! He was at scool in my mothers classroom, and it flooded the floor!

He has since had key hole surgery.

SO.... rest, REST and MORE REST!!

I had one quite a long while ago (groin). It took a few weeks to recover.

It hurt quite a bit for a few days and then was fine after that. I could drive after a week.
