Default has anyone claimed after an accident with a non insured/traceable driver.

Further to my thread a while back about my car being possibly written off, well it turns out that it was repaired so the damage wasn't quite as bad as first thought.

However, the owner of the car that did a runner after hitting my car, has reported the car stolen. . (For the second time in a few days) Hmm. .

Being Ilford where the crash happened, I fully expect this to be passed around the block so many times the Police will inevitably give up, leaving me £350 out of pocket, as I had to pay the excess today.

We have been told about a scheme where you can claim back any costs incurred from being hit by an uninsured or untraceable driver, has anyone been through this and how do I go about doing it?

Any help or tips would be great

I got my car written off by an uninsured driver, guy on holiday from jamaica visiting family. My insurers took care of the whole thing, no loss of no claims etc.
The scheme to recover the costs takes frickin ages apparently and dont expect a full value etc either.

My modded MY 00 classic VF 35 etc was side swiped by a lorry on May 1st this year. When I came to a stop I looked in my rear view mirror and to my disgust I saw the lorry doing a U turn. I went forward to find the next place I could do a turn to go after him, but I couldn,t find him. Although it happened on one of the busiest roads in Liverpool, the police had no cctv coverage of the incident. My car was declared a cat D write off. I had comprehensive cover and I was paid out, but I think I,ve lost my no claims now. Gary Moulson and Keith Michaels looked after me. Has any one on here bought the salvage ,Silver reg A7 **T?

Good to know that there is a chance of getting the cost back at least. No insurance is a very bad offence.
