Default Negotiating replacement window prices

I've had a few quotes through for replacement windows, one of the companies has already dropped their price to match another without us asking. (£100)

We had no hard sell, just measured up and a quote sent in the post.

Do people usually try and negotiate on these prices or is it a case of, if it seems good enough you just agree?

Cheers

If you've had one of the big companies around you can normally get them down by about 50%

Just tried local firms, not exaclty big but they do do a lot of work, bar one of them that mainly specialises in conservatories.

+1, aftersales service is IMO more important than saving a little more with the next in line.

I've found with the more "local" firms that they, as you say measure up and send out a quote, no messing about maybe a little bit to squeeze but not that much. I got £150 off a £2k job a while back.

I made the mistake of having one of the big companies round to do a quote, what a pain in the ar$e they were, as mentioned above over 50% knocked off of their original price, and they were still way over the other guys price.

Quotes like "These are the Rolls Royce of windows" had me cracking up though.

Did you try Trent Valley Windows? We used them, managed to negotiate down on the price. Had no doubts using them again when we had a conservatory added too.

In terms of their service, couldn't fault it. When the conservatory was built, the builder they used was fantastic, absolutely no mess at all (and I mean none - each evening when they finished they swept the drive so it was cleaner that when they started!!)
