Raoul Moat Sympathisers
Can anyone help me out with this one?
You'd probably have to come from a council estate or know someone who does to even try and understand why some people think he is some sort of legend?
...so....anyone? Why does he appear to be a new underclass hero?
Anyone know why he was in prison in the first place?

It beggers belief why idiots feel he is some sort of hero.
They should visit The Sun website and watch the interview with the blinded policeman, maybe then Mr Moat might not seem such a 'legend' afterall.
I believe he was in for assualt surprise surprise!

I feel very sorry for the policeman who's been told he's probably blinded. That must be absolutely awful. I know he wasn't killed, but losing your sight must rank a close second to being dead.

No, I don't live on a council estate, but I did when I was a child. I had fantastic parents and with their teaching I now own a rather substantial property, have my own business and am certainly no chav or thicko.
Anyway, Moat was a unstable thug and anyone glorifying what he did is an out and out idiot. The man has got what he deserved, death. Good riddance. Some people are sheep and will jump on the bandwagon just because they think it will make them look good. It does not and I bet some of them come from well to do families.
The Policeman has shown himself to be the hero and has my total admiration.

davyboy, I never had you down as a snob but your comment about council estates is appalling. To generalise that everyone who has or does live on one, is either a chav or a thicko beggars belief.

I still live on a council estate and funnily enough, like you, I don't sympathise either. In fact, most of the people I work with live on council estates and not one of them has shown any support towards him and certainly haven't glorified his actions.
Davyboy has made comments of this nature before towards us council folk. I think it's quite an ignorant assumption to make.

Davyboy has made the same stupid 'social housing' remarks for years. He seems to have quite a chip on his shoulder, and probably some self-esteem issues.
It always makes me smile because his spelling and grammar don't say 'educated and middle-class' to me.

Accroding to the media, Moat went in for 5 years for hitting a child. Whether it was his own child or what, I do not know.
Moat the psycho killer did ask for help since last year. His warnings against his GF and even Police were ignored. Without any sympathy but with fairness, some may recognise that some right help at right time would have reduced the chances of recent occurings. A criminologist said something very true tonight that there are many like him who try to shift their own reponsibilty towards mental health professionals by asking for help, in order to run away from recognising the issues themselves, and from helping themselves. Even then, my view is that some psychtherapeutic and preventive intervention at right time may have reduced the chances of what he recently caused. Now this can actually put the killer in the bracket of not some chivalrous legendaries in chav culture, but perhaps a victim of the ignorance of Social Services and Police in society. Indirectly, both services are also responsible for these disastrous events, not just the Moat-nasty.
It was also talked that Moat was reserved an appointment with a psychologist, but he failed to turn up.That makes him to be a plastic-patient, fine. But it doesn't make the services look totally blameless either, as they could have been more vigilant, if they knew that he was such a psycho. Police are now posthumously branding him as a very violent and unstable man since before he was even born! This branding may also save them from the unnecessary use of tasers in the incident as well, I think.
BTW, nothing wrong with council housing. There are plenty of hidden criminals living in big mansions with their wives (or husbands, strangers, neighbours etc. etc.)buried under their patios.

TH - They should have shot him anyway. Sometimes I get pissed off with <insert anything here> - I don't go off on a shooting rampage, killing and blinding people.
I think Davyboy has a fair sentiment, badly expressed. Lee 247 confirms this when she points out that she no longer lives on a council estate and has a substantial property. Is there any more she could do to distance herself from living on a council estate? The difference here is between those who want to live on a council estate and those who don't have an option, but hope to do better for themselves or their kids. I think that was Davyboy's point, with no snobbery intended.
p.s. - What happened to EfoTH?
