Population to rise from 59m to 78m in fourty years
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/10607480.stm
Can someone expalin to me why and how this is good for the country as it is we have overcrowded roads, lack of housing stock lack of school places. running out of places to put the rubbish we already generate generation of power and growing food with less land to do so.
Will someone waive a magic wand and all will be OK? Chances are i will not be around to see this but my kids will and i ust do not see how this country can sustain this level of population.
How many will have jobs to pay for the rest who do not?
I may well be being a thick as a whale omlete and a grumpy old man but i cannot see how this will work and i do not see why people should be allowed to keep as many children as they want - rights and responsibilities again i suppose.
<sits back and waits to be called a DM reading racist or zenophobe>

Paul is a DM reading racist zenaphobe....But don't worry, that doesn't mean you are Daily Mail reading Xenophobe
The situation is unworkable with the benefits we have and the shortage of jobs to counteract it.
Should be a simple thing benefits for two kids, after that you are on your own. Choice of having kids is just like deciding which hole you pot the black into at the end of the game.

We have two kids, it has cost us some 54k in nursery fees to look after them whilst we worked to pay the mortgage and get by at one point £1254.00 for the two of them to attend full-time, each month. We payed it because that was the only way other than the benefits system or not having kids which we chose to do and pay our way.
I just cannot see how people can afford to have more than two kids and in some cases even manage two kids. Well obviously i can really when the 'system' for housing and benefits rewards people for being unemployed and having more and more kids - this is not sustainable though how can it be...I am not just on at immigration/immigrants and i think that stable door will never get bolted and even if it does it will be years too late. It is the home grown baby machines living off of the state as well and how long can it go on...

My parents managed to bring up two children with one wage earner. My dad was always paid a pretty low wage as well.
I still wonder how they managed it, but my sister and I were always well enough provided for and we both had a good education. It was done with a great deal of self sacrifice of course and we both know how much of a debt we owe them.
It was reported the other day that this is now the most highly populated country going! The NL policy of allowing unlimited immigration was a very selfish action for their own purposes and it was also a mindlessly stupid thing to do. One way of course to ingratiate themselves with the fellows over the channel with a view to the future.
Our infrastructure cannot cope with the impossible loads being put on it as far as education, NHS, and benefits, roads etc is concerned. Everything that we personally paid for in the past is being squandered away on those who have not earned it who also seem to get priority over the rest of us in every respect!
Long past time for a fairer distribution of our assets, while we still have any that is!

Not enough houses already so +20m people will certainly keep demand & prices afloat! This = a 32% increase though can't be possible in just 40yrs ... Probably Govt Policy (?) as they need earners to pay the State Pension
Solution - benifits pays for max of one child after that you're own your own. Like to see these people with 10 fecking kids manage that one
TX.

We seem to be a nation of shopkeepers, we as a nation do not manufacture huge amounts of anything as it can be made cheaper (if not better) elsewhere. What will the increase in the population do, build roads, build houses, staff hosptials and schools - ok but where will the money come from to pay for this.
Really, i just do not get it. I am only educated to O level standard so have a basic grasp of maths and economics and would be grateful if someone can point out my economic shortcomings and tell me how it will all work.

Hopefully back where they came from.
Makes your p!ss boil. Immigrants are everywhere now. Then you hear about them living in a £2.1m house that's costing the UK tax payer £8000 a month just in rent.
Labour have fcuked this country. Why on earth they wanted this to happen, only they will ever know, and never tell.
We can't continue like this.
