Anyone Been To Turkey? Im looking for some advice...
Hi Guys, I am looking to slip away to Turkey for a couple off weeks in September and wonder if any of you have stayed over there all inclusive and can recommend anywhere good? Also appreciate advice on what areas to stay and not to stay if any of you have any experience of the place? Thanks in advance for your time.

Only been to Olu Deniz myself. Beautiful place, bit more quiet, more suited to a relaxing family holiday than a riotous one. Good for Paragliding!
Olu Deniz and its lagoon is always on the front of any Turkey travel brochures.

I got married at oludeniz last September lovely place. The paragliding is a must. We stopped at 'oludeniz resort' also they have a sister hotel called suncity.
Highly reccommend.
I'll upload some pics later

I spent 10 days on a Gulet over there, was fully catered so technically it was all inclusive
Some real scenic areas out there away from the tourist hotspots. Sea is good to dive/snorkel in, especially at night. Lovely and warm and crystal clear.
However I'd only reccomend a gulet cruise if a) you can survive a 35+degrees cabin without a/c (in my case I just slept outside on the sundeck) b) don't mind sharing with some random oddballs (in my case, honeymooners, customs official, remarried-couple with spoilt brat and doorstep step-father). Still a memorable holiday and loved it.

kalkan.
Its not near an airport, so it's quiet. Its civilised and laid back, yet friendly and full of nice restaurants.
This place is a 10 minute taxi ride away
Patara beach is one of the 14 best beaches on the planet, talk about no hi rise next to the beach, there are no damn buildings on the beach. Its also 14 kilometres long, so if 14,000 people turn up on the day you do, they'll still only be 1000 people per kilometre
There's also the saklekent gorge.the second longest gorge in europe
300 foot deep and 18 kilometres long, as close as you're going to get to walking on the moon on earth. it really is other worldly
You can get 4km in before you get to a giant rock blocking your path, but its still well worth making the trip.
So yeah, kalkan, go for it, its a great place to go.

we stayed here 3 times,
and j4cko also stayed here as well,
its 5* all inclusive but its near to the main drag enough to walk into the bars,
its a nice complex and most of the accomodation is in little villa type bldgs,
big pool, nice bar good food,
its only downside is there is not a lot to do in the evenings, but if there is a few of you or, you can walk into the town centre for an hour it doesnt matter,
loads of fake designer stuff as well.

I once had to make a night landing at Istanbul in a VC10 and they kept changing the runway lights from one runway to another about 4 times on the approach. Every time I lined up on one runway they changed their minds again without even mentioning it to me and the only clue was that the lights all went out and came on for the other runway! I had to keep changing from one runway to the other! I had to get quite insistent that they sorted themselves out in the end. They never explained it to us and I am glad to say I never had to go there again!

Just got back from Calis which is nice, also had a day in Fetiye and Olu Deniz and they were both good as well.
We went to Altinkum last year too, which was good too.
Out of all of them I think Olu Deniz would be the best place to stay

Been to Olu deniz about 3 times and really like it. Very, very scenic indeed. Last month we went to Belek (Antalya) to a much more expensive hotel and I didn't enjoy it half as much. It was a much better, flasher hotel than the one we stay in Oludeniz but the area wasn't half as beautiful.
Good luck
