Anybody got a hot tub?
Wifey suddenly wants a frigging hot tub
Thinking about having one in the garden, sunk into the ground with some decking surrounding it and some sort of pergoda thing over it.
Anybody got one and offer any feedback?
Cheers

My mum has one, she had a pergola build over it with this weird bamboo type roof. Its a really cool thing, when she is on holiday I do pop over and use it.
If you have the room then do it, its really nice to have the radio on and a nice cold drink sitting in the hot tub. If you can build some kind of roof over it, it gets you a lot more use and you can attach lights and speakers to the pergola.
My Mum has this kind of thing
http://www.hottubs2buy.co.uk/hot_tub...ProductID=1303 (I think they have changed the name since she got hers) as above be aware it does come with running costs like chemicals, filters and fragrances etc but its a nice little luxury to have.

if you are not sure then why not get a lay z spa inflatable one. If she uses it then get a proper one, if the novelty wears off quickly then you have saved yourself a load of cash. We bought the big lay z spa for the kids, they use it a fair amount, but you can just pack it up and away if not used for a while and it then doesn't clutter up your garden.

I know you're more likely to get run over by a bus, but gory case reports are always interesting

Personally hot tubs strike me as being a bit "cheesy" and generally bought by chavs with money to burn.
Theres a chap at the end of our street who has one - he's one of those "Look how f*cking awesome I am" - "No, go on, look at my awesomely awesomeness"

Im just about to start a house build and am planning on putting one in my bathroom. On the limited research I have done Jacuzzi are the best ones but expensive. I went to a few showrooms yesterday and I think i will go for an arctic spa(mid range). Yes its a bit chav but it will be cool sitting in it after a hard days work. I need to hire a crane and get it in the house when its half built as its going upstairs.

That's going to cost more than the jacuzzi surely?

Thanks.
JB, did you already know about those cases or did you do a random pubmed search??
Eddscott, not sure if they are cheesy as such. My garden is not over looked and so no one would know I had one so there is no show off element involved on my part. My wife and I are both unsocial old sods so wouldn't be inviting anybody around to have a look at it. The only reason I'm even thinking about it is because I need to do something with my garden, its big but boring, and I thought the kids might like it.
Having a quick look at some prices today has made me think twice. The good ones are about £8k, and then there will be costs to prepare the ground work. A pavilion type surround will add another £3k+
I wouldn't mind if it was something that was going to be used a lot but I suspect it won't be. It'll be a novelty for a few months and then it'll lie empty.

I never go in the ones in hotels and stuff, its basically Bum Soup, all the bits of dead skin, poop and other bodily fluids from people marinading themselves in it then kept at a Bacteria friendly temperature indefinitely, if you wanted to design something to breed Bacteria from peoples undercarriages then a hot tub would be ideal.
One in your own home, at least you are in control of keeping it clean, after each "party" make sure its disinfected.
