There are videos on YouTube of popular HTC and other lesser makes loosing signal when held a certain way, how come this isn't headline news? Because owners of Apple products don't care to highlight it I guess, where owners of inferior devices are bitter.

Because Apple fanboys are the loudest and therefore are the most fun to knock off their pedestal.

It simple really - HTC etc don't have the public fame that Apple do. (rightly or wrongly)
A bit like how everybody slags off Windows for various reasons - because it's the most popular.....

However, it is VERY funny that Apple have had to bite the bullet and offer refunds.

I played with one the other day - GAWD it's heavy (compared to my 3g) and meh.... not overly impressed. Yes, it's quicker, but so what.

I don't like to see any company fall flat on it's ar$e, but Apple opened themselves up to this..... serves em right.

Thing is though it's their most successful launch ever, and everyone I know that has one loves it. It's all just hate from ill wishers.

So they are offering a refund because of a hate campaign?

I do love the fact that they are patching it to help the display be "more accurate"

IE adding a buffer to the displayed result, to help smooth over the short spikes/drops

You can not have the top bloke telling people to "not hold it that way" and then have him turn around later on and claim "ohh we built them a bit wrong, they are fine really"

They will patch them to look healthy and peoples calls will still be dropped, even with "4 bars"

How to devaluate "the worth of a signal bar" in one easy step, they will be worse less than South African currency soon

Remember vista was the biggest bestest op windows around-not,the IPHAT 4 was Apples biggest launch not!Jobsworth has said, dont worry there is a patch for bad signal strenght it will alter the no of bars to make it look better, all right. Also there is no diff in reception between 4-5 bars, so the new owners taken for a ride again.Return all the phones when they have fixed the problem sorted then market them properly.

That I fear is the most likely outcome here....and of course if you take it back to a shop to demonstrate the issue, all that will be shown is full signal strenght

There are indeed vids on youtube of things like a Nokia E71 loosing signal in the same fashion.

I have just come out of the Apple store where I made 5 i4's lose signal by holding them "naturally" as a left hander.

It was a mistake 'imo' for them to have released the phone with such a problem, especially given their profile.

Yes, http://www.amazon.co.uk/HTC-Desire-S.../dp/B0035ER8OY and that's heavily discounted as it's outdated.

Quite simply I don't feel bad at all, other than not having my own. There's one sat here with me now, it's a fantastic piece of kit and to be honest the opinions of a few people on a Subaru related forum don't mean that much, especially when compared to personal experience.

I said it would be an awesome piece of kit, and it is, no digging in the dirt can change that all it can do is excite people who thrive on the negative.

Jack most quality phones are around £500 and the Nexus one being around £550 and it has no internal storage but they still off these phones for free and have more minutes and txts than the same offering as what Apple do. My contract is due for renewal next month and unless there is a 1.5ghz snapdragon android phone on the market I will get the iphone4 but I do realise its a well overpriced contract but what can you do

Jack is clearly beyond therapy, even Apple have admitted it has a problem but he will NEVER be wrong. His is the only opinion that matters, and he wonders why he gets called a 'fanboy'

Jack, clearly the opinions of a few people on a subaru forum do mean something to you as you constantly come on here to defend apple
