Default LCD Tv Issues or Remote Control??

Hi Guys,

Around 4 yrs ago I bought a viewsonic 32" LCD for the spare room, but suddenly its started to play up. Occasionaly when pressing the Vol Down it would go Up!!! (and no I didnt have the remote upside down)

But today nothing is working properly. Now when I press up and down on the channel buttons it does nothing, Pressing 1 goes to channel 9999, pressing Vol up goes to Menu, Wont power Off by remote, blah blah..... it goes on.

So My question is: Do you think the remote is screwed or do you think the TV is on its way out. I know Viewsonic is cheap and chearful, but as its for the room we barely use Im not fussed of the Quality although it is a bloody good HD TV for the money!

PS, Ive changed the batteries in the remote, its no different.

Remote 98TR7BD-ONT-VSF

Have you tried the buttons on the TV? Assuming it has some... Preferably with the remote "out of sight".

If the remote is do-lally, IMO it's either crudded up or its had guiness spilt on it... or was that my old Sony's remote... ). Could very well be a stuck button or similar too.

You could pry the remote apart and clean it.

It certainly could be the remote which is at fault.

Cheers Chaps, I'll certainly try buying another remote before replacing the TV, eBay £15 delivered

No guiness in the remote, will try prying the remote apart. Tried the Outofsight (removed battries) NO joy as the TV hasnt many buttins on it, so changing the channel just changes the source as expected.

Thanks for the reply guys, I'll order another remote.

This Tv is the 2nd sitting room, not used much. Mainly used for my PS3.

I already have a 42 Samsung Plasma which is going strong for its 4 years, plus its hung over my Fire . Then there is two Smaller LG LCDs in the bedrooms which are also great.

The only reason I posted the thread is if I got replys to say that the TV could be fooked id buy a 50 LG @ £500
