Who is liable? What would happen if....
Just watched 2 adverts on the telly. Logbook loans and webuyanycar.com.
Both advert annoy the hell out of me, one charges 400% interest and the other has the sh@ttiest song I've ever heard. Either way, both shaft you.
I own my car, no finance outstanding. Its worth 4000 on ''What car'' valuations and 2100 on webuyanycar
According to thier advert, logbook loans can be done on the spot as long as you done owe any finance, have the logbook , spare key, MOT and F/C insurance.
If I were to 'loose' the log book and apply to DVLA for a new one and re-mot my car so I have two,
go to logbook loans and get the max I could, probably 3 grand, give them 1 key, 1 mot and 1 logbook,
go straight to webuyanycar.com and sell to them for 2100 and give them the other docs, mot and key,
Spend the 5 grand on an STi and dont pay the loan.
What would happen? Obviously this would destroy my credit but I'd just like answering the phone with logbook loans on the other end and saying ''sorry, but those other annoying idiots have youre car, I'm off to fill up with SUL with my 100 quid change''

You would be liable
For
Premeditated fraud!!!!
Obtaining money by deception
given that is wasn't a slight oversight or accident, you would be looking at
a long stretch.
Not to mention right royally screwed for any other financial services once
you get out
Mart

Obviously I wont be doing this!! but I seriously doubt a jail sentence would be granted with prisions bursting to the seams an' all.
A mate at work got done with 15k of tax credit fraud and pays it back at 50 a MONTH and no charges were filed.

Have I owned so bad that you have reverted to the "Look I have spelled this wrong and I have told you I have, what can you say about that"
That is pathetically lacking in terms of originality.

If your struggling that much for 5k, go take out a loan of sorts & do the right thing with your car, people seem to forget that behind every company is someone trying to make something out there investment.

Thanks for taking the time to read all my posts before commenting.
As for trying to make something out their investment, why does the APR have to be 400% instead of something remotely resonable?? Because they WANT you do default on the payments.
And why not give you a decent price for your car? Because they prey of folk that are desperate by giving them less than half or what their car will be up for on a dealers forecourt the next week.
