Does anyone know how to unlock a mobile so it will work on any network?
Phone in question is a Siemens SL45 currently on Virgin but want to unlock it so I can use Vodafone!
Any info/web sites would be greatly appreciated.

Hello
The best bet would be to take it to a local (independent) phone shop and get them to do it. Hacing done a (very) quick search of the internet, this seems like an okay deal: http://logosunlimited.co.uk/unlocking.htm
Unlocking a phone yourself usually requires a datalead (at £20+), and some software (usually downloadable) and is not worth the hassle.
Steve.

Just update the firmware on your SL45 - i believe FW23 updated and unlocked the phone and you need nothing more then your cradle & PSU that shipped with your phone along with a Win32 PC.
The later versions of FW will upgrade the phone to a SL45i i.e you get the J2ME MIDP java virtual machine. I have succesfully upgraded my handset to FW52 and can now write and test my J2ME apps.

I'm sure Virgin give you the unlock codes free if you phone them up and ask for it.. I know they used to a year or two back but not sure if they still do... Might take a while though...
