It already says they will pay by bankers draft. Its got to be a scam, who buys a car without seeing it and also over pays.

Time to sign his email up for some junk mail I think!

Get him to send the £50 deposit in cash but give him the address of a local charity (minus the charity name obviously), at least someone can gain out of it.

This is the classic scam. All jokes aside, it really is a shame that you can't even sell anything these days without this kind of bullsh*t.

Yup, classic fraudulent banker's draft scam. The draft appears to clear and funds appear in your account. At this point you think great, and hand over your car, and the "overpayment". A couple of weeks later you will be contacted by your bank to find that the funds have gone, as fraudulent funds can always be recovered.

Only issue is that your car has gone without a trace, and they have a load of your cash with them. You have effectively paid them to take your car. Its great for them when it works, a total shocker for you.

And no, you are not entitled to any form of compensation at all, from anywhere.

WHOA!!!! I had almost the same reponse (nearly the same word for word) from an advert in Gumtree.com.
i was not sure about it so i took a copy to my local C.A.B and they told me this is definatly a scam...although it a bankers draft, they cancell the funds 1 hr later....The third party involved,to collect car on thier behalf, was a shipping company that was under investigation by Trading standards......

it is also a way of money laundering ie swapping dirty money gained through drugs and fraud through an innocent persons clean bank account. i know this may sound silly as they end up with a bit less than they put in but its worth it to them to have the clean notes and a transaction to show where the money came from if the police ever question them about it.

Cool

I think it's the same person from Nigeria , central America who I have regular contact with on issues as property, inhertiance ,investments overseas
infact iv just deleated his copy of passport bank details from new York etc
he now wants me to invest in a politcal party to overthrow the govt

He gets around a lot so I suggest you email him back to say you sold the car and have cash to invest !!
