Default Electricity costs - your estimates

OK I rent an office consisting of 2 rooms.

1 room is very rarely used and has 1 small PC computer in it that is on 24/7/.

The other room has 3 desks that are used 10am-6pm 5 days a week with the occasional weekend.

The rooms are heated by gas not by electricity.

The only lights ever used are 3 small desk lamps and 1 low power halogen stand based light. The overhead fluorescents are only turned on when the office is cleaned once a week.

There is a small electric water heater on the wall for the sink. Aside from that there are 4 other PCs in use when the office is occupied.

What are you best guesses for what the annual electricity bill should be on a place like this?

This should be interesting as you may guess I think I may be paying rather a lot.

No. It is a shared meter and that is where I think the problem comes in if you get my drift.

I just wondered if anyone else out there had a comparable office and would like to know what they are paying per annum.

Cheers.

How do they split it fairly, if it is shared

I would think your costs should be very low.

My estimate would be £1757.60

I've also had problem with shared meters in business premises before.
Dispute the bills, its what I did and it went very well indeed. . . . .

I had paid ~£1200 over a 9 month period and the leccy Co said I owed a further £300 making it £1500 over the 9 months. This was after I had moved out of the business premises. Eventually (6 months later) I had a letter at my home address from this electric company. I opened it expecting to see I still owed them money, but instead it was a cheque from them to me for nearly £1400 Thats more than I had paid them. The letter said something about reading the wrong meter in error
Cheque banked and cleared ok too

Exactly my problem. The landlord ostensibly splits it out on a pro-rata basis by area of office, but we are paying way too much IMO
