what really ***** me off is the whole "we'll give you £5 a month ...." - what do they want in return?? - A whole £1k per month!!!
Do they really think people are that f*cking stupid to fall for it? and then to top it off - giving money away when they have been bailed out?! They need shooting!!
Sick and tired of people on TV thinking people are idiots and will believe anything because it's on the box!!!!!
Aarrgghhh!!

I have to switch channels when Halifax adverts come on. They are dire.
Ghastly bank too. I wouldn't give them the steam off my $hit, never mind my money

Halifax use staff.
Howard was a lowly member of staff until he was launched into a glittering career of grand opening of LIDLs and new Bingo halls.
Ironically Howard was dropped as he had become too expensive!
They are ***te adverts though. I know a lot of the Lloyds people who now own them and they are embarrassed!

I agree the adverts were risible but we are stuck with two ISA's each and some other bits with them so I would prefer they didnt die a slow painful death just yet !

God, I hope not. I have my wage payed into the Halifx, and have never had a problem with them. Guess all those slagging off the halifax, have gone overdrawn or something to incur a charge.
Any bank would/will do the same. To not have a problem with a bank, don't assume that you have a god given right to spend more money than you actually have in your account. Simples.

I was with the Halifax or it's many subsidiaries for twenty years - I never had an unauthorised overdraft or unexpected charges - and yet I still thought they had terrible customer service.
Indeed I stayed with them so long as they were a rich source of 'war stories' in how not to manage customers. My clients loved the examples!

No but for giving you £5 a month what the advert doesn't tell you is that that particular account charges you about £12 a month. So in effect they aren't giving you £5 at all, they are giving you a "discount" on the cost of the account itself.
I believe they still charge you £1 a day for your overdraft facility and £2 a day if your over £2.5K. If you go over your overdraft I think its £5 a day.
I use my OD but no way am I pay £1 a day - that is such a blatant con.
I moved to First Direct and the move was quite painless and wish I'd done it sooner. Rather looking forward to going into Halifax and closing my accounts. Be a shame though I've had it for over 15 years.

My account pays me £5 a month, and it doesn't cost me £12 a month. That is the next acount up. That account costs £12 a month, but comes with other incentives like cheaper car/house insurance. Cheap travel insurance etc.
I didn't go for this account for 2 reasons.
1) I won't pay for an account.
2) All there cheap insurance deals, are still more expensive than if you just shop around and find the cheapest deal yourself.

My problems with Halifax are exactly as Trout said. Poor customer service and a total lack of interest in helping a Student make a good choice of bank account.
Nat West were far superior in their interest, helpfulness and of course student perks.
Speak as you find is always best
Oh and the adverts would not inspire me to bank with them, they are a right bunch of twonks

They continued to say they had not ever received the cheque, despite me taking in a photocopy of the original, which their own cashier had signed, they then tried to blame the other bank, who were already calling them on a daily basis asking when they would be taking payment.
Therefore, in my opinion, Halifax are a bunch of robbing barstewards, and I hope they go under. They hung on to MY money, which should have been paid in to my account which was NEVER overdrawn. Halifax do not have a god given right to hold in to my money, which should be paid in to my account. Simples.
Funnily enough, as soon as the banking ombudsman, heard abut this and from the Payee's bank, Halifax all of a sudden "received authorisation" to clear the funds.

"Watch out I am going to have another chav kid by yet another father"
Really...........???
That's never been done before!! Riveting.
I really don't get the celeb thing on any level......what do they actually do?
As far as I can see the whole lot of them put together would not add up to one person worthy even of kissing the lowlyest NHS nurses feet.
