We left BT after 20 years of line retnal and 12 years of internet because of dealing with fools who did not speak english and could not deal with simple issues!
Speak slowly and ask for a call from UK customer services and/or a customer services manager from the UK, threaten to leave BT, this sometimes helps, we did get through to the UK but by then we had had enough of BT.
Good luck!

I once had issues with someone from British Gas, I asked her to slow down and speak clearly, and was called a racist.
So I complained that I wanted to speak to a manager....

I am putting my complaint in writing and telling them they can shove their contract up their trumpet, I'm off to either Sky or Tescos.

I had a problem a few years back where a temporary postcode was allocated to my phoneline so whenever i tried to get broadband in it wouldn't match my home postcode and i had no clue what this temp postcode was as my bills etc had the right postcode. It was the biggest nightmare, my BB provider was blaming BT and BT were blaming my BB provider! I wasn't getting anywhere. Turns out BT have 2 systems and only 2 people in the whole country know how to use the second system.
As it were i kept getting thru to people from Belfast and they were thick as ****! After 20million calls someone actually was able to fix it.
