F%CK THIS GOVERMENT!!
We are going to create a new politcal party......... The Petrol Party!!
We are going to chop benefits for all the lazy *******s and as a result of the money saving we are going to :
Cut Duty on fuel MASSIVELY
Force down fuel Prices
Build Proper Roads
Among other things.... Who's in, we need 1% of votes LOL

The problem I see is that the more petrol costs, the more people will buy silly economy cars because they can't afford to drive a proper car (say, just off the top of my head, an Impreza.)
They buy less fuel and the Govt gets less tax to waste on running the country badly. So they have to put the tax up to get the same revenue.
This forces more people buy silly economy cars.......

These threads make me laugh .... petrol tax is an optional tax - like it's optional whether you put your hand into a frying pan!!
You don't put your hand in the frying pan because you won't like the results ..... yet you willingly re-map, modify, extract 500 BHP, drive like idiots and de-cat.
So, you burn up loads more fuel - kill the planet - and then come on here looking for a sympathy vote
Sorry, the public will just laugh in your face .... you drive a gas guzzler, you pay for it! Is their attitude - and, you must admit, it's fair!
Don't like the fuel costs? Stop driving .... or drive sensibly .... or drive something else .... it's actually simpler than posting on a BBS

You do live in a dream world dont you?, with out petrol how would people get to work, and before you say it public transport is so sparse and expensive its unworkable and you cant cycle 25 miles to work and actually look ok in meeting etc so how do we all get to work, petrol is not optional for those in the real world!

P.S. Put the VEL for all cars up to £1000 per annum, and lets mop up all the scroungers cars and crush them, thus fewer cars on the road = less fuel used = less tax revenue = less money to waste on benefits. SORTED.

Drive down fuel costs by simply cutting out a lot of the duty!
With fuel duty at 50.35p per litre and VAT at 17.5 per cent then the cost of a typical fill of 50 litres of fuel at £1.05 per litre works out at £52.50. This consists of £19.51 for the fuel, £25.17 for the fuel duty and £7.82 for the VAT.”
“So, for 50 litres at the pump, we are paying £19.51 for the fuel plus an eye-watering £32.99 in taxation.!”
There are 2 million people on the dole, there are not 2 Million people that need this support, or deserve it so there will be a vigorous screening process to see who gets what (Doctors, psychs, etc), money saved from slackers will aid towards the duty cut deficit
All other tax's will remain untouched for the time being.
Health care will be dealt with by NI contribution
What War on terror? as a far as I can tell we just follow the Americans in to stupid fights that never seem to end and all that results in is people disliking the UK, let's keep our noses out for a while and see what happens.

Hey don't diss Labour, if the Tories get in then expect huge interest rates again on property! Yeah fuel prices are high but at least thet are doing something to help prevent global warming, which is something which WILL affect us all when this planet becomes uninhabitable for Human beings!

Hey don't diss Labour, if the Tories get in then expect huge interest rates again on property! Yeah fuel prices are high but at least thet are doing something to help prevent global warming, which is something which WILL affect us all when this planet becomes uninhabitable for Human beings!
This country contributes something along the lines of 2%..... What is the point in skinning everyone in the UK if the big poluters aren't making the effort? it's a pointless exercise!
At some point this rock we live on will become uninhabitable by humans anyway regardless of what we do and then the process will start over. All these hotter than hot and colder than cold years we have are proven cycles in the earths life time, people in authority are just using it to scare people!!
