We have a 10yo Dyson cylinder vac which we replaced recently with an upright. The wife started complaining that the upright is awkward for the stairs, so I was considering paying the £69 service charge to get the old DC05 fettled like new by a Dyson engineer. Low and behold, a letter arrives today saying there's an electrical fault been found on this machine, and we have the choice of a modified part, or a brand new vac for a reduced price. So, £85 later and we'll be getting a DC23 Animal (lists at £310 on Dyson's website), complete with new 5yr warranty £16 more than I was gonna pay to service the old one
