Sell it and buy a HTC
In all honesty, hold down both the menu button and the power button down until it resets. It may work after that, if not, as above and plug it into itunes.
Let us know if it works.

Uh oh. Be prepared to be told it's not the phone, but you or your service provider or the alignment of the stars or some such cobblers as long as you understand that the phone itself is infallible

Apple - Support - Discussions - Application "Waiting" ...
Here's a helpful answer to restore the balance due to the drivel above.

And interesting you call it drivel derived as it was from the blinkered and utterly unhelpful nonsense you wrote in reply to my orginal post about the iPhone.

Ah yes I remember, it's you that lives on the edge of cell phone coverage and blames the iPhone. I see you're still so bitter you feel the need to jump on any thread that mentions the iPhone for a quick troll. You'll get over it.

OK I am going to be kind and assume you are not thick and you are in fact just winding me up.
Just in case I am wrong though and it is actually the former let me explain it one more time. A Nokia 6300 sat next to the iPhone on the same network has full signal strength (as does the Orange Broadband dongle in the laptop) yet the iPhone either has 1 bar or says 'Searching'.
How on earth can that be down to the 'edge of cellphone coverage'?
I blame the iPhone because it is the iPhone!!!!

As much as I love my iPhone, and I wouldn't swap it for any other model, the reception does seem to falter slightly in places.
I've seen my signal drop yet the guy next to me with his work O2 phone is okay.
The advantages still far outweigh the disadvantages though.

More drivel. Here's the answer.
Some phones may well have stronger reception, some people live closer to cell towers, what this means is some people will lose out. It's not the fault of the phone alone as you would have it and it's not the fault of the service provider alone as I would have it.
Neither of us it right, but you're the one who insists on posting cocky replies to irrelevant threads.

Look you can carry on accusing me of writing drivel or being cocky or whatever, but the fact remains you are wrong about this and are making yourself look a bit silly by continuing to insist it is anything to do with the service provider quite frankly.

Look, think about it, if Orange were to put a cell tower in your front garden do you think you would get coverage? Of course you would, now who's fixed your 'issue'? Orange or Apple?

So why don't you think about that for a while before posting more 'drivel'

On the second one, better than the first in that it doesn't need a reboot every time it loses signal and it doesn't lose signal as often, but a way away from the rock solid signal stregth of the old Nokia 6300 or the broadband dongle come to that.

Strangely enough my iPhone lost its O2 signal yesterday and just showed 'No Service'.
Guy sat next to me with his old Nokia work phone, also on O2, had a full signal.
My signal didn't return until I switched off and back on.
It's definately the iPhone, although this has only happened twice in 12 months.

I see where he's coming from TBH f1 fan, my electric lawnmower won't reach the end of the garden, its not the lawnmower's fault but the house builder for not building the house closer to the end

Never had this problem installing apps to be fair, but I have never had an issues with the signal or the phone.
BUT, I do get a better 'phone' signal at my parents in N Wales than I do here in Wolves. However I tend to use wireless when possible, so not much room for error.
I am thinking that 'some' people need to take a chill pill...........
