Thats pretty impressive.

I can assure you Mart that it is quite an experience to sit in the left hand seat of a chopper (hicopleter) next to a skilled pilot when he is doing a bit of close coupled hovering!

A good many years ago, the RAF published a "Manual of RAF Flying" which was the definitive book on how to fly all types of aircraft. It was actually full of good advice.

When it got to the chopper section they had a manal misspelling of the word helicopter which came out as "Hicopleter!"

Ever since then they have been known as Hicopleters by the aircrew from that time.

I would hate to be that pilot. The amount of ribbing he will have to endure will be endless

I was a passenger once in a Huey in the Nevada desert when he was practising his low level evasive flying along a dried up river bed. I really enjoyed the very low flying, he was good, but the dreadful flapping noises from the rotor blades was what worried me!
