Default What do you think of Twitter?

I signed up when it first got popular (along with half of NSR ) and had a bit of fun posting mindless garbage for a while. Then I got bored so I stopped. Then I logged in again for a while. Then I got bored again.

Now I've decided to give it another go because I'm nosey and I'd quite like to follow certain people like Mark Webber, Jenson Button, Olly Murs and various others but how the hell do you know who is genuine or not?

Who else is worth following? Anyone here? No-one?

I don't bother tweeting much because I can't imagine for one minute that anyone is remotely interested in anything that I might have to say

Even with a live feed on the home screen of the phone, I find it boring as hell and a pointless thing unless you are following an event or some kind of news.

Cool

I'm on it but don't tweet. I do find it more useful than cr@p like Facebook though for following what's going on with events or sports people etc. etc.

I use Twitter occasionally, although not to post as I don't really think anyone is interested in my thrilling existence.

I do like to follow Geoff Lloyd, Chris Moyles etc...

There is a little blue "Verified" badge that indicates that Twitter has confirmed that the person is who they say they are, have a look at Stephen Fry's account and you'll see what I mean (alas Stephen isn't tweeting much lately, he's finishing off a book)

I don't tweet, but may reply to the odd tweet here and there.

g/f uses it quite a bit and has 500 followers or so. she tends to post stuff/links/images she finds interesting - not so much about herself/us.

Solely use it for advertising and any tweets are automatically linked to show on a similar advertising Facebook account. Since inception it has brought in thousands of new website visitors.

Wouldn't use it for a personal account though.

Knowing that "Yes" that was an earthquake was incredible last year. Knowing where to look and what time Satellites cross your location is amazing. Knowing that someone just bought an iPhone is a bit pants.

I signed up when Sal mentioned it on here, ages ago. Lost interest after two weeks and deleted it.

I still get ruddy emails telling me someone is following me. No idea why, there is nothing on it

Ive said it before on here but I use Twitter by following key technology people and other IT professionals (who most in turn tend to follow me)

Good for following tech news and bouncing ideas and solutions around other like minded people.

I once had the misfortune to see local tweets, it was full of retarded illiterate users who post crap.
