Blackberry question
I'm hoping someone (Snazy?) can help me out with this. Google is helping me could up with a working solution.
I have a works Blackberry and when it's locked (which it is most of the time), I don't get the caller ID, just a number. Makes filtering of calls a bugger!
Any way of changing this in the miriad of settings?
Cheers

I think you will find this is content protection on your address book. Try turning it off. Device is encrypting everything whilst locked - so you don't get the name against the number.
Can't remember where the setting is at the moment and i don't have one on me - sorry.

OK what model and what OS are you running. And do you have a custom theme on it at all.
All of mine show the full caller ID info when locked or unlocked, so I would think it is possibly theme based.

About content protection
Content protection is designed to encrypt your BlackBerry® device data. When content protection is turned on, your device uses a private key to encrypt data as it is stored on the device, including data that your device receives when it is locked. Your device decrypts data as you access it.
You can set content protection to include or exclude your contacts. If you turn on content protection for contacts and you receive a call when the device is locked, the caller name does not appear on the screen.
When you lock your device, an open lock indicator appears in the device status section of the screen to indicate that your device is deleting a copy of the private key from the temporary device memory. A lock indicator appears when the device has deleted the key.
So I also found in the content protection screens where you can exclude the contacts if you want to fix the name showing issue. Just set "Include Contacts" to "NO" If your not willing to make that change, then the contacts will continue to not show up if the phone is locked.

Thanks all,
It's a blackberry pearl
I can see an option in the security settings to amend the security settings for contacts but I can't amend it (it's padlocked)...must be a work thing.
Bugger!

Have you downloaded a background theme for it at all? I've downloaded a sort of carbon theme for mine and it knacked the caller ID so took it off... just an idea
