The Chavvywavvy's have moved in!
well they moved in before christmas but jesus wept its not nice when ur lovely wee street started becomming a breeding ground for the city centre's outcasts.
My question is where do they get there stereo's from? I have a 120W 6 channel Pioneer amp in my living room backed up by a genuine 500W subwoofer yet I couldn't even dream of competing with them on the Daz Doorstep Dancemusic Challenge!

I don't get it either!! My next door neighbour has a sound system that cost him £200 for everything and it is louder than my £2400 set up! But then the quality just isn't there!
In my experience you can either go for loud and crackly or not so loud and crystal clear. If you want both then you need to spend the money.

After yarning with my next door neighbour it seems that i'm the last person to catch on that the chavvywavvy's love bangin' music, apparently they've been keeping the whole street up every weekend (i'm a heavy sleeper).
Just so you get an idea of how loud the music is, i live on the opposite side of the ROAD, not beside them or attached to them. My assumption is that they wont last long as I can only guess they don't know who one or two of their neighbours are.

Their equipment would be matchwood by now if I had my sleep disturbed
I walked the streets a few years ago holding a torque wrench because I could hear a bass beat ... for hours non-stop (the beat, not me walking!) ... turns out it was miles away and was some hippy/chav Glade Festival!!
I was seriously going to smash whatever was keeping me awake ....... I suggest you do the same, or get a posse up with the neighbours to sort it out!

Modern Hi-Fi is quite weedy. Especially alot of audiophile stuff if you don't pick and choose craefully. Most sound nice, but many have no real oomph (unless you go for seperate poweramps - take a look at NAD's 275BEE, buy a few and run them in bridged mode ). Same with the weedy bookshelf speakers or floorstanders with small drivers, many have quite a low efficiency, so need alot of power get up to party-like volume levels. Then they go all flappy and the ports to start farting so they sound dire (thus the need to use subs to back them up instead).
The problem is many manufacturers these days rate amps in circumstances that make them appear more powerful (lower ohms impedance and at a higher THD).
To give an idea: Look on the ID plate on the back of your amp where it states the power supply figures like voltage ratings, it should also state the nominal wattage it dissipates, if so that is what "real" peak combined power it has, I will gaurantee the sub is not 500watts, maybe 200watt if your lucky. That 6 channel amp is likely to be the same; many claim to be 6x100 watts; yet have a nominal power supply rating on the ID plate of around 250watts where did it magic up that extra power? Alot of domestic Hi-Fi is like this these days making stuff look more powerful than it really is.
In contrast I have a very humble early 1990's Technics x901 integrated amp, which does its job just nicely. This in contrast to many modern domestic amps is rated at 480watt on the rear plate, yet its only a 2x100watt amp (well, truthfully thats 100watts RMS into 8ohm at 0.008%THD for those who know what that means). This may hint of this amp's real world ability; measure its output at a lower impedance or higher THD as what is so often done these days, and its rated output would double.
To prove a point I have hooked up the subwoofers out my car once, put on Chemicle Brother's "under the influence" and cranked it up. Lets just say this experiment will not be repeated again indoors or outdoors, even if it made us grin like a pair of school kids.
Of course, its only used in sensible moderation or under duress, such as when next door has their ruddy Coldplay on with the windows open (again).

Why not post dodgy bass frequency CD through the door and with a little luck it'll blow up there speakers?
Failing that post some music you like through the door at least you'll be kept awake to something you like.

It really is very bad behaviour to wind your music up to such a volume that the neighbours have to put up with it. It is the epitome of bad manners and lack of thought for others.
The only way seems to be a complaint to the authorities if they won't take any notice of polite requests to turn it down.

Just wait until spring and then put the most annoying music on that you can possibly find.
Maybe even pick a day where the wind is blowing in their direction (just to be technical). Open the windows and turn up the volume.
What are they playing anyway? My neighbour has a kid, well he's 21 this year and plays this awful music, that I have found is refered to as 4x4. It's terrible.

This is the sub i'm using Ali-B.
Specification - RSW-12 | Monitor Audio
If your saying that ain't a realistic 500W i dunno what it actually would be but its fooking outstandingly powerful for indoors use!

if its too much contact enviromental health. its long winded but it works. they remove all music products from the house and can take them to court and get them evicted if it continues
