Evidence suggests that perhaps the world is getting a better place as violent death of children (usually getting the Snet Massive up in arms about the decline of civilisation) has fallen 40% since 1974.

It was so much better in the old days

Fewer violent deaths

The actual death rate halved; of course even better if we could get it to zero!

Interesting report and the recent atrocities make it somewhat surprising. Hope they have not been massaging the statistics.

This may come across the wrong way but a child murder is good copy for the newspapers. So, all of these sad events gets acres of coverage - the more macabre, the better.

In the 70's these tragedies, whilst evidently more common, obviously didn't ignite the press and Internet forums like the current crop of stories.

I suppose they are still waiting for the perfect storm – i.e. for the Daily Mail to run the story that illegal Muslim immigrants, in an unholy alliance with European Bankers are responsible for both the salt shortage and the recent cold weather

After all where did all the cold weather originate from – coincidence?

There was only a salt shortage due to all that money being spent on teaching single, immigrant, disabled muslims yoga at the new multi-million pound Single, immigrant, disabled muslim Yoga and Social Centre that they built.

Oh, and the rest of the money was spent on sending ASBO youfs on holidays and racing car training!

That's good news, I am surprised to see Germany second behind the USA, mind you they do have a lot if immigrants.
