What crash helmet do you use and where did you get it from? Also is it worth getting a full face over an open face?

Looking at doing a couple once the cars up to spec and this is a bit I've been "told" I must have. Seems sensible.

I got mine from the racewear shop at Silverstone circuit. Having tried on a number of different style helmets I couldn't find one that was comfortable so didn't want to risk buying mail order only to find that it wasn't the right size. Took me ages to find one that fitted well in the shop !

£450 (at the time)'s worth of Arai RX7XXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXXX

But that is way beyond the spec required for an incar helmet. Anything that is gold ACU in terms of bike or BSI marked is ok.

Open face for saloon cars is fine as the chances of really smacking your mutt on something is so slim and will be less hot to wear.

But I am used to full face so prefer that.

I seen this lot advertised in the motorsports now magazine, pretty decent price and they look ok for the odd trackday
V2 racing helmets that are approved to SNELL SA2005 standard and comply with MSA regulations for all motor sports

Cheers, but I have a habit of doing the unthinkable. You'd have thought the chances of me smacking my dirt bike into the stables on a 5 acre field were slim, yet I managed it!!!

I have used full face since the first Bell helmets appeared.

I prefer them. especially on a 'bike of course, but still prefer them in a car for the extra protection.

The Schuberth J1 helmet is what I use mainly on my bike, but good for in car as well, basically open face but with a removable chin hoop and full clear visor also got a flip down sun visor a la figther pilot style.
