What cases do people recommend as I should get one to keep it pristine.

What kind of protection are you looking for? If you want something a little rugged then have a look at the Otterbox Defender case. It does make the usually slim iPhone a bit chunkier, but it does encase it rather well.

Hate to rain on your parade but I had that very case for my 3G after a mate got one. Very light & thin but but brittle. The thin part near the volume controller snapped and 1st time I dropped it (on carpet) a small crack developed. Left it like that and when I dropped it in tesco carpark the case just pinged off.

So Id suggest if you damage the case at all then replace it as otherwise it wont offer much protection the next time.

Oh another annoying thing is that as the case doesnt cover the edges fully you get dust & grit in between the case and the aluminium trim on the iphone. That will then rub and make it looks the phone surround has been sand papered.

My case has finally cracked (last week) - though it did last almost 12 months. Probably more a case for preventing scratches than anything else.

My wife just got an iphone 4 today and I'll be getting her something more robust.
