Swine Flu -- Drug company con?
This IS the Daily Mail: The 'false' pandemic: Drug firms cashed in on scare over swine flu, claims Euro health chief | Mail Online but it has some valid points.

Goes with the link I posted last week .... http://info-wars.org/2009/11/26/worl...of-corruption/
"... The same conclusion was reached by Danish journalists who expertly examined the links between the World Health Organization (WHO) and the world’s leading pharmaceutical companies, who gained wealth by selling drugs to counter the disease. It turns out, for example, that many scientists who sit on various committees of WHO, carefully concealed the fact that they receive money from the giant pharmaceutical companies of the world ..." [My bold emphasis]
Sorry, but things have never seemed kosher about any vaccines, let alone the swine flu one. We've just got more proof that BIG money is behind it all.

On the news this evening they were talking about the UK government trying to renegotiate a contract so they don't have to take and pay for another 60 million doses of vaccine. Most other European governments are doing the same.

If you can make money from fighting an invisible and unbeatable enemy - you are in a good fight.
With the hysteria that passes for the press and a PM with shall we say, knee jerk proclivities - you can hardly blame the Pharmas for taking advantage.
It reminds me of a horror movie I saw a long time ago - the monsters were invisible. Special effects budget was zero. Bloody effective all the same.

There are PLENTY of folk on here, who, quite worryingly, seem to accept at face value ANYTHING the government tells them
And any attempt to dissuade them results in violent outbursts, they seem to have an almost releigious fervour.
WMD, the Iraq invasion, The Hutton report, Brown as a brilliant chancellor, global warming/climate change, and now this lot.

Perhaps they should Jeff. I know someone who died from swine flu quite recently. Admittedly she was in a high risk group, having type one diabetes, but the danger is very real to those who are more susceptible.

I think like most conspiracies this is nonsense.
Far from whipping up a public fears, the government and WHO spent most of the time trying to reassure that this virus wasn't a serious risk to life, that the effects were nearly always mild, and that it is unlikely to be more harmful than seasonal flu.
The media on the other hand went to town on this issue. Maybe that's the conspiracy, maybe the media owners are in bed with the drug companies?
The facts remain that a severe (probably avian) flu is going to happen one day, then we wont have threads about conspriracy theories, we'll have threads moaning about how the government didn't warn us all properly, or didn't take the right steps.....

"... Up to 65,000 people could die from swine flu in the UK in a worst case scenario set out by the chief medical officer as the government launched a national service for patients to obtain antiviral drugs over the internet and telephone ..."
That really reassured people that swine flu wasn't a "serious risk to life" ...

Umm Like Liam Donaldson, the chief medical officer at the Department of Health. From Swine flu could kill 65,000 in UK, warns chief medical officer | World news | The Guardian

No. But the WHO are. Don't you ever do any research yourself? In this case people have posted links to the evidence and you're here showing your inability to actually follow those links. I hear Microsoft do basic computer courses .....
Says who? The chief medical officer .... ? Do you just swallow every piece of cr*p that comes out from this government or one of its mouthpieces??????

I wouldn't call it a conspiracy - it is just a business opportunity for most of the parties concerned, excepting perhaps the government, which alas is just lacking in leadership.

Now you're the one who's mentioning a *conspiracy*. I just put up facts to refute your claims. So, what about the fact that the UK's chief medical officer was saying up to 65000 could die, when you're saying that the authorities were playing down the risk????? If that's playing down the risk, I'm a Chinaman!

You seem to of latched upon the one statement which was (self evidently) a worse case scenario. You have completely ignored the fact that there were daily statements Donaldson and the WHO put out during the pandemic outbreak calming public fears and down-playing the media hype.
"... England's chief medical officer Sir Liam Donaldson was forced to admit yesterday that the worst case scenario had been slashed by two thirds from 65,000 deaths to 19,000 ..."
My fears were well and truly calmed!
