Its light and fluffy here, you need six kids (three mine) filling plastic storage boxes with snow and tramping them down, shave a little off to get the angle and make each one progressively thinner to keep the work down, its easy, Inuit....

Have to say, once it went darker the temp dropped and it was great to work with.

Dog Kennel in the morning to complement it.

From what i remember someone built an igloo but was no where as good as your one

Built it to a point using full thickness "Bricks" and as I got higher I shaved off the appropriate amount to an angle of about 25 degrees, I used the full thickness all the way up but shaved more off to avoid the weight penalty, I tried to do it in a spiral and brace one block against another, used snow to pack between the blocks as mortar and as the temperature dropped the snow firmed up and made life easier, used a piece of thin wood to shave off the edges, stood in the middle until it wouldnt stand a 38 inch waist then from inside placed the blocks.

Keeping the kids from knocking it over was the hard part, they didnt like block making detail !

Oh Yeah, Dog in his element (hadnt seen snow until the other week), 2 were due back to school in Macc and I made the decision not to send them this morning having gone to the bus stop with them, youngest not due back until Thurs, Me until Fri so we just got with it, intially they went for the Xbox and I was surprised, twenty minutes and they could stand it no more and all trooped out, been out all day and now are in bed !

Had the Nitro car out, mega donuts, sledges, hot pies from Peter Herds for the garden full of kids then the Igloo project, a hot bath in between, a bottle of Champagne (and two Stellas) tonight for me, might have a Brandy in a while and a go on the Xbox seeing as its not in use, still sympathise with anyone having a hard time in this, its not all fun for everyone but we have had a truly memorable day.

hey j4cko, you know what mate... people can make their own fun no matter what.

im sure you've given people some ideas... i was all happy to sit indoors a few sundays ago and what happened, i got dragged out for walk in the snow and up some hills and stuff. only for a couple of hours, but its was so nice getting back in the warm and i slept well too !!!

just needs a bit of effort from time to time and i hope more people stick their nose out in the snow and realise what a great season it is !
