Would you phone the Police to ask the outcome or
just leave it.
Long story short:
We were taking the dog for a walk tonight and took a jaunt through the forest. This takes in part of the Coast to Coast cycle route.
Crossing over the bridge, our dog (a GSD) got a bit snarly. Moved on and spotted a pool of fresh blood in the snow. Two steps on, another pool. Both about the size of a human head. We proceeded further down the track following drops of blood on the way. The track then splits and another big pool of blood. The dog was making little bark noises by this time so we quick marched back up the track to the bridge and called the Police.
They were there within 10 minutes and checked out the blood, called for back up and the Dog Squad.
They took our details and told us to take our dog home as the Police dog was on its way.
Heard nothing more.
Now I am chewed to bits incase it was an injured cyclist/ stab victim or just an animal.
As the title, would you phone and ask. Am not sure what to do

To be honest, I probably wouldn't be able to sleep unless I knew some details. But then again, if it's something a bit icky, you might be better off not knowing, iyswim?
I wouldn't be sure that thy could give you any details anyway. If it's something bad I am sure they will contct you for more info.

I didn't get the Officers details. They saw the blood and basically called for the Dog Squad straight away. We were then asked our address and told to get our dog away asap.
Ours is a big lad but would be no match for the police dogs.
Chris, he was well jittery. Not a happy dog at all. His tail was right up and making these low gruff noises.
I was glad to get home, but am chewed to bits now. As you say, I sincerely hope it is nothing sinister.
It may just be an animal, but I could not live with myself if it was someone injured. They would never have survived this weather

I think it might be worth remembering that the only reason that you could see the blood was because of the snow. It could have have been a rabbit that had been caught by a fox.
Without the snow, you would probably have put it down to something else very easily.

You did the right thing phoning the police as judging by your dogs reaction something wasnt quiet right.
back in 2008 just before xmas one saturday around 11pm both my dogs became adgitated. Low growl type barks. Pacing up and down whining and acting strange i let them out and they were barking at the neighbours fence. I couldnt see anything un toward so went out front and looked at their house lights on everything seemed normal. Thought nothing off it. Anyway long story short. Next day i found out they had been robbed car and job lot.

Yeah, probably. There was a lot though. And the trail of it was quite a long way. No drag marks or anything. I stopped where the track split, I had enough by then so called the Police.

I take it this is local to where you live?
I'd suggest leaving it a couple of days then getting in touch with the local Safer Neighbourhood Team. Explain what you'd seen & done. The chances who ever is in charge of the Team will know whats been going on and should give you a result of some sorts, even if nothing was found

I'd suggest that you keep open minded for now and maybe see if you can find out in a few days. All the police can say is no. At least you have tried though.
