iphone 3g users - end of contract time...
For those that got a 3g when it came out what are you doing, renewing your contract or going else where?
I want to keep my number so seem to have 3 options:
upgrade to 3gs and carry on £35 a month - no thanks
keep current 3g and go onto a £20 a month for exactly the same service with 10 hours talk time and unlimited web/wifi that has been costing £35 a month
go on pay as you go and top up £15 a month for unlimited web access
I'm tempted to go on payg and just top up when I need to (i.e. not every month) and turn off the data features and use just wifi on it.
So anyone found any better options they are taking?

o2 will unlock your iPhone anytime if you are in contract for free.
Look at T mobile tariffs, unlimited data per month is just £5, you can bolt this onto a £10 per month tariff

I would swap to T-mobile but as you say the service is so bad then I would stay with o2 and downgrade to £20.
In July there will probably be a new iPhone, so you can look at changing then, certainly the 3Gs is not worth changing to.

I put an ebay payandgo sim in my 3g iphone and I have never topped it up once and it still has £7 of its original credit left after 5 months, but I still have unlimited web and data Its part of the sim deal as long as its in an iphone. After 12months they will charge you but I will just pay £15 and put another payandgo sim in I have ulimted web and data on my proper phone but the iphone is just a good toy to have thats why I keep it

I am coming to the end of my contract and was going to stick my 3g 16gb iphone on ebay. Looking at prices quickly on ebay used 16bg ones are going for over £300. Divide £300 by 18 and it works out at £16 a month bringing your new 3gs to £19 a month. Am I missing something?

Average price is £38 now they have went up a bit but then its christmas. Give it a month or two. If you buy an iphone payandgo the sim won't matter as it willbe included.

Cheers Steve, they never showed up on the general search I did. Think i'll drop to the £20 a month for now with no contract and then if those prices drop right down again get one of them. If you get one of those sims can you swap your existing iphone number to them?

I'm gonna witch to the Simplicity tariff - with he same amount of mins/texts and unlimited wifi - for approx. £20 p/m until a worthy successor to the iPhone (i.e. probably Apple's next offering) is released

That is what I have done this afternoon. Also cancelled my orange phone I had on a corporate tariff still with an ex employer and with the £5 discount on my o2 broadband i'm now only really paying £11 something compared to what I was paying.

I paid up early and went onto 3, I do £25 a month now and get unlimited txt, internet, 3 to 3 calls and 200 minutes of other calls included.
Screw o2, they have been ripping people off for long enough now, I hope everyone on iphone leaves them to teach them a lesson.
