Default EVO Car magazine - why are some old copies valuable ?

Have been thinking of selling my almost complete collection of EVO mags (have almost every one from day one) and was doing a bit of research on EBay in terms of selling complete or breaking up.
Issue 2 (12/98) - £ 34.99 buy it now price.
Issue 5 (03/99) - £27.99 buy it now price.

Do issues like this really command such prices or are they pure dreamers ??

Also advice - if I were to sell them all - any ideas what a good price would be ?
Although - if individual copies are going at those prices I will break the collection up !!

Cheers.

Can't comment on the EVO mag prices themselves but you can do a search on ebay of closed auctions so you should be able to see any that sold recently and how much for. hth.

I have every issue from issue 1. And every issue from when they started doing their subscribers covers.

I think issue 1 can be sold for about £50.

I still remember seeing Issue 1 at the newsagents, and buying it. Obviously i should have bought ten of them!

Magazines, like anything really, can behave weirdly on Ebay. All you need is somebody who really wants a particular issue and anything's possible. But if those two magazines were mine to auction normally, i'd be happy to get £20 for number 2 and £15 for number 3.

And if anyone does want to bid me for the entire Evo collection, complete and mint, including all the special subscriber-only cover editions, please feel free to PM me!

Would anyone have that much time on their hands to sit and read years worth of a car magazine?

I can see why issue one should command a value, and maybe in the future, the first subscribers issue cover magazine, but why would any other be of value?

Good point, they're worth more individually, no doubt. But many people do shift entire collections just to be done with it. I can understand that rationale!!

My entire collection recently went to the tip, along with about 200 other mags! I still subscribe, but bin it when it's read. The amount i had became ridiculous, and i'd never read them!

I did chuck out years and years worth of "Performance Car" after "Evo" came out and to clear some space. Kept the last year of "Performance Car" and maybe the final issue may be worth something?

I've just given away a load of Evos (earliest no. 11), Jap Performance and Auticar. I guess I could have sold some of them, but I decided to pass them on to an enthusiast (or two).

I think there are some very rare copies of evo magazine where there isnt a single mention, review, drooling picture or PCOTY award winning special of a Porsche 911. These are real rarities and have become collectors items.

I had 16 Rallycourse annuals on ebay for a week. I had 1 bid of £10 in a week and that was from my bro in law trying to get the bidding going. No other bids but a few watchers.

After the auction ended I had two emails from 2 watchers who had intended to bid but had forgotten. I sold them to the highest offer which was £440.

As for EVO mag I sold my 1st edition for £20 I think, a few years ago.

I have a couple of Rallycourse, plus a lot more Autocourse. Mainly 1970s, but I do have 1963/64, probably worth a few bob, particularly since it has a photo of a young Sir Stirling tucked into it.

Must dig them out and have a look when I can find the time.............
