This whole thing is a farce. A state that we didn't have a vote in and a president the public didn't elect. When are we going to leave this bloody disaster.

I wonder how well the gravy will flow on their expenses train. Still, at least Blair did not get it.....although saying that....hmm. At least if Blair had got it the rest of the world may have started to take Europe seriously. One thing Blair has got is charisma, and that imo is something that post needs in order for it to be meaningful.
I cannot see what they are actually going to achieve with those two working there. I get the feeling Europe is more about the in fighting than actually get on and doing something useful.

You actually want the post to be meaningful? We have an unelected emperor foisted upon us and you worry that nobody's going to take them seriously? Good god man

They say he wants us to suppress all references to our own countries. So no British flags any more, Eu style number plates, Eu flags everywhere, and that is just the start.
He wants us to think Eu and nothing else!

I don't understand everyone on here's obsession with what people look like though, blimey was Churchill a pin-up?
What matters is what they stand for, THAT'S the big problem with the federalists, I couldn't give a flying f what they look like. More evidence of Sun reader approach to politics on SN?

Just replaced my car plates which had the EU symbol on them (car failed the MOT as one was 'delaminating' ...!!! Been meaning to change away from the EU ones for ages anyway). Nice plain ones. No ridiculous EU, or anything else, flag. Though if they try to make us all have EU ones I forsee a very large demand for Union Jack plates!

Profile: Herman Van Rompuy: EU's new president - Telegraph
"... Politically, in Britain at least, Mr Rompuy is more controversial. He has been described by Chris Bryant, the Europe minister, as having "a more federalist agenda than other prime ministers in Europe". He once authored a federalist manifesto that decalared: "Apart from the euro, also other national symbols need to be replaced by European symbols (licence plates, identity cards, presence of more EU flags, one time EU sports events." Just last week, speaking to a private dinner of industrialists, diplomats and politicians, he called for European taxes on financial transactions to fund the EU ..."
EU Presidency candidate Herman Van Rompuy calls for new taxes - Telegraph
"... Herman Van Rompuy, the man widely expected to be appointed the first President of Europe this week, has called for new eco-taxes and levies on the financial sector to fund a more powerful European Union. Belgium's prime minister made the controversial proposal, leaked to a Flemish newspaper, during a secret dinner to promote his candidacy hosted by the elite Bilderberg Group ..."
Well, sorry, two references ....
