Default Are LEDs the same?

Now I know NOT all LED's are alike, but assuming I want to replace some, and I can find the same colour and size, would other specs be the same, or would I have to find out the FULL specs of the originals, and match them?

I would think the voltage being the main one - if it's an alarm some makers don't tend to stick to 12v.

If you want them to look the same yup pretty much, colour temp is important but also what led as some are floody others are a spot beam.

What are they for anyway, could try asking on candlepower forums.

Still wondering about taking the KnockLink to bits and mounting the LEDs around the new pods, ditto the LambdaLink, and I haven't got around taking either apart yet, so don't know how long the leads will be on the EXISTING LEDs once unsoldered.

The LEDs on a KL are - as far as I can tell - standard 3mm types. They'll run off about 2.0 to 2.2V depending on the colour. It's very unlikely they'll be 12V types.

The good news is that you don't necessarily have to replace them with identical ones - so, for example, you could go for 5mm instead if that looks better depending on where you install them. You might find white or blue ones a bit dim, though, because they require a slightly higher voltage.

At a guess, this might be the sort of thing you'd need:

I have to say that, space allowing, I was going to go for 5mm as I like these:
Rapid Electronics - Electronic Components > Optoelectronics (LEDs), to fit them, makes the whole deal look professional.
