Been offered a few K for clinical trial !!!
I have had asthma since I was a kid and have just had a letter asking if I want to do this trial
Offered a few grand for what could be a couple of weeks to months
I'm not earning as such (not on the dole) so money is handy
Had I been in my full time job (6 years ago) I would have probably knocked it back.
I heard a bit ago on This Morning there was some big thing happening for asthma sufferers so maybe something to do with that
Anyone done this?
What are your thoughts?

Generally safe, generally easy-ish money.

Half of the time you will get a placebo anyway. Of the other 50%, a huge majority will be fine.
But, I wouldn't take part in a trial in my current circumstances. A couple of years ago there was a trial that went very wrong - yes, it was a one in one hundred thousand case but that is not one risk I am willing to take.

That was through a company called Medeval..... and yes - they did end up with ginormous heads!!!
As a result, medeval have changed their name (nothing like a bit of bad press) to Icon so they can still get volunteers. 99% of the time you will be fine, and as SJ said, half the people in there get a placebo anyway - but there will always be the potential ginormous head issues.....
A mate of mine has done a few of these, ranging from giving blood samples for use (£50 a time), to eating McDonalds and drinking vodka all day (£150), right up to a three week residential stay where they gave him a course of valium (£3000).
Risk < Benefit?
or Benefit < Risk
It's your decision at the end of the day - do what your not-currently-ginormous head tells you!!

Certainly sorry to hear about your asthma. Its a difficult decision to take I reckon. I would not presume to advise you since it has to be your choice. its all down to you when you have made up you mind about any possible risks.

According to this - BBC NEWS | Health | Q&A: Drug trials
I will be on phase 2 or 3 after various other tests have been done on animals and healthy volunteers.
