oxford circus x-crossing
BBC NEWS | UK | England | London | Oxford Circus 'X-crossing' opens
How long before the first fatality..the first mid intersection fight, muggings etc.
Oh and £5m for that
Anyone else noticed Oxford Street has the most traffic congestion in London but no private cars can use it

Madness.
You couldn't pay me enough money to drive a London bus/cab, imagine going through that 10 times a day, never mind the rest of the route....no chance.

Great idea and much needed. Still wont stop the tourists and toffs just randomly running out in front of cars instead of waiting though. Arseholes.
As for the traffic chaos, thats because you are not allowed to turn anywhere, so any private motorists are just driving about wondering how the hell they turn into the road they want lol.
Its really not that bad to drive through on a normal day. Traffic around there flows "ok"
Yoza, London is no different to most cities, it has its hotspots, and bad times of day, but its really not that bad driving in it

Around here, even in peak hours you can average 2 miles every 3 minutes. There are only a couple of places in the area that if your journey is short and totally inside a hotspot that you may have to wait longer than that.

Drove in London once, never again. Even walking in London is like running a race. I've never seen so many people so stressed and locked into their own little world. I just stood jaw dropping in amazement and the number of people actually walking around reading a novel. Their free time must be at such a premium they are not prepared to "waste" a single second of their life just walking somewhere.

Its a city, cities are busy places at the best of times.
Its really not that dramatic. Notting Hill Carnival.... THATS busy, turning on the the Regent/Oxford St lights, is a busy time, and Xmas shopping is a stupid time to be in town IMO.... But other than that, its not too bad. Especially if you know where you are going, and the right time to go.
Taking a proper look at the X walk now, brilliant, and I can quite easily see where the 5M would have gone.
Where is "here" out of interest?
