Blackberry dilemma - Snazy etc thoughts please
Right,
Lost my bold last week. Been a bit of a nightmare getting fonesafe insurance to agree to replace but they finally have. Anyway, pop down to my local store and the bold is discontinued due to the impending release of the 9700.
After a few more phone calls they wouldn't agree to giving me a curve 8900 or me waiting to have the 9700. So they have paid me the value of my handset which was lost £440 minus the £30 excess
Options I see are
a) Buy a sim free phone and pocket the difference if some left over. A curve 300ish and a 9700 450ish.
b) Ring t mobile and pay up my contract which is only £190 as I only have a few months left. Then take a new contract out.
I cant justify doing a and if I do b, I think I will be to tempted to get an iphone off o2 :traitor:
I never expected them to pay me out and £410 to play with is a lot of money. I had decided to leave t-mobile anyway at the end of my contract as they have got very expensive in the last few months. Bill's jumped from £50ish to £80ish since there price rise.
What should I do?

If you liked the bold then buy a new 9700. Or buy out your contract and get a new bb on a fresh contract.
1ouldnt get an I phone at the moment. Wait a few months for other networks to get it and compare contracts at that point as I think o2 will have to really sort their contracts out as they are poor frankly.
Personally I would get a curve, but then I did.

If you are sticking to a BB, use one of the ways to get the 9700 without a doubt mate.
To coin a phrase "they have moved the game forward" with this one.
If you are thinking of moving away from BB, I would say consider the options, there are some great touch devices out there nowdays, so dont tie yourself to aniPhone unless you are specifically after one.
IMO you cant compare a BB style device and a a touch screen, so its a tough one to make the call on for me.
Result on the insurance claim though.

Fingers crossed I get my 9700 on Friday or Saturday, the wife gets my 8900 and I'll keep my 9000 as a good spare.
The 9700 is looking very
Sim free is the route, you can 'chop' and change providers as much as you like and then flog it on Ebay when the 10000 comes out.
