New Watch - Happy with this one
Hi All,
I'm a bit of a watch collector myself but nowhere near on Yoza's scale (or budget). I tend to go with older military/aviation type watches and have just bought myself a new everyday watch, i.e one I'll wear everyday.
It's a Wenger Commando SRC and I like very much:
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Following this, the next one one my list is a nice dress watch, which (hopefully) I'll get for my birthday. It's a Zeppelin Black Line Series watch:
Cheers
Ian

By the way I have 3 FCX'S now all your doing, an FCX1, FCX2BLACK, AND FCX2WHITE.
Right then, place on the fame suits...

Nice but......
Why does everyone seem to prefer these chunky great things with umpteen dials?
Don't you find them uncomfortable to wear and do you actually use all the extra features?
Just a personal view but all I want is a regular ordinary weight watch with a large clear face and possibly a date. If you need to spend money Patek seem to have a nice range.
Sorry only asking

I prefer a chronograph as I'm always timing stuff, usually mundane stuff though like boiling an egg or timing a run etc. But others, like yourself, prefer a clock that tells the time and maybe the date. There are others that want an altimeter, GPS, ballistics computer etc. That is why there is such a wide range of watches out there in all sorts of styles, sizes and price ranges.
And yes, I like the feel of a chunky watch on my wrist as long as it is well fitted. Always have. Remember the craze for Swatch watches? I loved a lot of the designs but couldn't wear them as they were so light I constantly had that "I'm not wearing a watch, Arrrggghhh" feeling
Going on your example, you say "Patek seem to have a nice range". I look at the full collection and see nothing I like at all, and some I think are hideous.
It's all about choice and there is no right answer. Each to their own etc.
Cheers

I like many of their watches, but not the prices. Some of their aircraft dial style watches are quality to look at and feel great on the wrist (tried many) but I cannot bring myself to pay that kind of money for a watch. Apart from that I don't really know that much about them, sorry.

Very nice choices there, I currently have this:
I am looking for an everydayer and the Wenger could well be a purchase, I really like the blue but it could become annoying after a while. So green would be the preference
Just out of interest how weighty is the Wenger Commando?

Tough one, don't have scales that can weigh it, but I would say it is lighter than an average chronograph but still a good weight to it. Put it this way, it is lighter than all my metal bracelet strapped watches but a little heavier than my leather strap chronographs. About average I would say. Although it looks big, the case is only 42mm, so it isn't huge.
I was going to go for the blue at first, but in the flesh the blue is quite dark in daylight, not hard to read or anything but just a little dark.
Cheers

Think I will be purchasing the zeppelin this weekend for that. Lovely watch. Also very tempted by the wenger but can only justify one at the moment!
What is the bezel size approx for both?

Ian,
I am with you on the cost of a B&R, it seems very steep indeed, circa $4500 (Canadian) for a very basic looking, but probably very, very well made, watch.

Zeppelin is 40mm. Good choice. Let me know what it is like if you get one as it's next on my list.
EDIT: And just found it online at Amazon of all places for £250, bargain:

Like the look of that - might be good for an everyday watch instead of my Tag - how easy is the Wenger to read in the dark?

Love the Wenger. Have been considering one for a while and also in the green. Good choice.
But, now you have shown me the Zeppelin. Oh my God! That is a nice looking watch.
Will have to go and look on Amazon with the curser hovering over the buy button and see what happens.
You swine

IanW couldn't get all 3 together as one is at another address, but here are my two.
I am currently wearing my SeaDwellerDeepSea, I love its blue lume and gizmo Clasp.
Lume has been mentioned and you can't get any better than Tritium filled tubes, as on my Ball Hydrocarbons, and Marathon CSar it needs no external light source to agitate the lume, it just shines on..... 100 times brighter than any Lume paint products.
Show me more, pref with cheese...
