Default Nissan and my Warranty claim- Deliving the car back to me....

Need to collect a few of your thoughts. My GTR had transmission problem after 2 months, now the dealer arranged for a flatbed to take it back to them (220miles) they have had the car now for 3 weeks and finally a new unit has been fitted to the car under warranty (£12.5k charge out of warranty!!!) However they say they will not arrange for the car to be brought back to me on a flatbed and i will be required to make the journey back up to them for collection....

Am i out of order for requesting the car to be delivered back to me considering they have found the problem to be no fault of mine?

Do any other manufacturers deliver cars that have had problems, beyond the drivers fault, back to their owner?

Cheers

I am pretty sure you have the right to stick to your guns and get the car delivered back to you. Question is, do you want to do that? I mean really, the car is now drivable. What is the chance that they are going to deliver on the back of a truck? Not much, so its most likely going to be driven to you.

So, how do you think they are going to drive it?

Pick it up

Yeah up at Middlehurst

LUMINOUS- Yeah i wouldnt accept them driving it back to me, i wouldn't expect them to put the mileage on the car i would however expect it to be delivered back to me on a flatbed!! After all they provide this service for servicing, picking it up on a flatbed and delivering it back, however for a failure out of my hands they wont deliver it back to me?

I'm surprised at that, Middlehurst have a good rep for customer service and I have been told they pick up and deliver back other owners cars from a similar distance away.

They should definately deliver back, IMHO.

If they took it away on a truck they should return it on a truck. Complain to Nissan UK and the dealer principal, tell them you'll write to the magazines, tell David Yu who writes for Evo magazine etc.

Good news, just got off the phone to Gary at MH who says that politically they aren't meant to use the service to transport the car back to me, however because it was a "total warrantable fauilure" it should be delivered back to me so if Nissan GB don't take the cost then MH will

Top guys!

Is that the guy who used to own a modified Skyline R33 GTR ("Godzilla") about 8-10 years back and sold it on for a second-hand LHD Ferrari Spyder (dark blue or black 355 I think)?

Not sure if he still does, but he did write for EVO back in the day, which is certainly where I read about Godzilla. Fairly sure he might also post on the GTROC forum now and then too.

He still does - he now writes about his new GTR and having planned not to modify it he is now modifying it.

I dont think this is good service personally, good service would be bringing it back to you without question, not you having to argue with them etc
