I see that useless brain dead ex-commons speaker has now taken a place in the Lords.

Why?

Tradition I suppose but why didn't someone have the guts to say no and put him out to pasture?

He was good at getting expenses and covering his own backside though. When you think about it, it is only natural that he would join that other newly enobled chappie who was caught out for dishonesty more than once!

Amazing isnt it? Generally in industry if you dont cut it youre out, but in Government you retire to no job at all, a title and a huge pay packet. Most of those in the new Lords have been put their by Tony Blurr. I think I prefered the old Lords. At least the useless ones were asleep.

MP's had been abusing the system for years. He kept quite, as they wanted him too. When the whole sorry affair hit the paper's, the MP's needed a scapegoat. He was it.

If he'd tried to bring up the expenses before hand, he'd have been linched by the Mp's for trying to stop the gravy train.

He resigns with the assurance of getting into the Lords.

The guy is a total waste, very few MP's (even those on his side) had any time for him. Expenses? He was the major instigator of a proposal to take MP's expenses out of the freedom of information act. Total thick tosser.......
