Walk-in Showers - advice
#1
I'm having a night-mare at the moment with a walk-in shower that the sealant is constantly rotting with.
Having next to no DIY experience, I'm wondering whether to get a pro in to completely re-tile it and seal it. I've also heard about some new fangled alternative to tiles/sealant, which sounds appealing and low-maintenance.
Any opinions would be welcome.

Daz,
tap the tiles in the shower area, loose ones make a different sound. If any are loose, remove these and retile and regrout.make sure area is dry and free from dust.scrape old silicone out and re-seal all horizontals and verticals(most enclosures say Outside Horizontals and Inside+out side Verticals)this is so any water will come back into the enclosure..Leave for 24 hours to dry.
Also,Check, shower tray is firm and doesn't rock on the floor
Door seal is a tight fit
Walls are sound and dont flex etc etc.
Think the thing you are on about is called Aqua Panel. Its like Plastic cladding (as seen on the outside of houses)but its for the inside of showers. It comes in sheets that can be cut easily and makes for a easy clean shower(no grout or loose tile problems)
Trouble is though it would mean knocking off old tiles and removing shower doors/panels etc.Stick it to the wall using No Nails, make sure its level, refit shower doors/panels and seal with silicone.
